Confirmed line-ups: Arsenal vs Newcastle: Tavares keeps place

By on November 27, 2021

Arsenal will look to get back to winning ways when they take on Newcastle United at the Emirates on Saturday lunchtime.

Boss Mikel Arteta has decided to stick with Nuno Tavares as left-back despite his horror show against Liverpool last weekend. Therefore, Kieran Tierney remains on the bench. Takehiro Tomiyasu continues at right-back for Arsenal while Ben White partners Gabriel in the heart of defence once again.

Thomas Partey lines-up in midfield alongside Albert Sambi Lokonga with Granit Xhaka still on the sidelines. Therefore, Ainsley Maitland-Niles is on the bench along with Mo Elneny.

Bukayo Saka keeps his place on the right flank with Emile Smith Rowe also starting in the Arsenal attack. Martin Odegaard is recalled with Alexandre Lacazette dropping out.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leads the line up front and he’ll be looking to continue his excellent record against Newcastle having scored six times in his last five meetings with the Magpies.

Gabriel Martinelli and Nicolas Pepe have to settle for places among the Arsenal substitutes once again.

These are the line-ups for the game:

Arsenal

Ramsdale, Tomiyasu, Gabriel, White, Tavares, Partey, Lokonga, Saka, Smith Rowe, Odegaard, Aubameyang.

Subs: Leno, Tierney, Lacazette, Maitland-Niles, Holding, Pepe, Elneny, Martinelli, Nketiah.

Newcastle

Dubravka, Krafth, Lascelles, Schar, Fraser, Willock, Shelvey, Ritchie, Joelinton, Wilson, Saint-Maximin

Subs: Darlow, Lewis, Clark, Hayden, Hendrick, Manquillo, Almiron, Longstaff, Murphy.

Bad management. I understand him not wanting to undermine Tavares confidence, but the lack of changes smacks of players now keeping their place despite poor performances. This was Wengers downfall. There are no consequences. Aubamayang cant hot a barn door but Ballogun is shunned. Saka and Odegaard creates little but Hutchinson and Platino ignored. Pepe on the bench. Why? What has he contributed, for 12
    Months!
