Arsenal keen on Serie A midfielder as Arteta eyes potential £54m double swoop

By on August 25, 2020

According to the Express, Arsenal are interested in signing midfielder Amadou Diawara and Roma are ready to do business if £27m is put on the table this summer.

Mikel Arteta is working hard trying to reshuffle the squad he inherited from Unai Emery as the boss knows we need to improve all over the pitch if Arsenal are to get back into the top four again next season.

Midfield is an area we desperately need to strengthen as we’ve been far too open at times and Arteta is reportedly in the market for at least one new midfielder before the transfer window closes on October 5th.

Matteo Guendouzi is almost certain to leave Arsenal after falling out with Arteta, we’re yet to agree a deal to re-sign Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid while Lucas Torreira is being linked with a move back to Italy after struggling to establish himself.

Therefore, Arsenal are in the market for midfielders and the Express claims that Diawara has emerged as a target for Arteta after impressing during his debut campaign with Roma following his move from Napoli in 2019.

The 23-year-old made 31 appearances in all competitions but the newspaper says Roma are ready to cash-in if a £27m bid arrives as they look to raise money to fund their own summer transfer plans.

That sort of price-tag could suit Arsenal as we’ve been priced out of a move for Thomas Partey and Diawara is a specialist defensive midfielder so he could be the man to protect our defence next season.

Gabriel-Magalhaes

Any move for the Guinea midfielder could be part of a £54m splurge as the Express are one of several media outlets reporting that Arsenal are on the verge of signing Gabriel Magalhaes in a £27m deal from Lille.

The Brazilian centre-back has already had his medical in France last week, as per the report, and is set to sign a five-year contract with Arsenal worth around £80,000-a-week.

Gabriel is one of the most highly-rated centre-backs in French football so he should be an exciting addition to the squad and the move is expected to be announced over the coming days.

Arsenal have already snapped-up Willian on a free transfer and are lining-up moves for 2-3 more players so Arteta is going to need to sell some of his fringe players to help fund his recruitment drive.

As well as Torreira and Guendouzi, the Express says Arsenal will listen to offers for the likes of Rob Holding, Calum Chambers, Sokratis, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and possibly even Alexandre Lacazette – assuming Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang signs a new deal.

“A stitch in time saves nine”. Let’s do what’s reasonable, that is within our reach(financially) but importantly, an upgrade on the already existing team.

Roma Are looking for a full back and have been looking towards Koslasinac as that man !! We are looking for a Holding midfielder !! We give you a choice Either Koslasinac and 10 million and Roma give us Diawara or Roma Takes Kolasinac on loan and we straight swap Torriera for Diawara !! No brainer !! Either way its a win win for both clubs !! Make it happen !!

Or we can offer you a pick between Guendouzi or Torriera in a swap deal and Koalsinac on loan plus a sweetner of 2 million towards Kolasinacs wages !!

Diawara is a massive improvement in defensive midfield !! The guy for me is a better Defensive midfielder than Partey and at 27 million a bargain !! Obviously i think Partey is a quality player and in an Ideal world Partey and Diawara partnership would be amazing !! but in reality that is not going to happen ! So Diawara in a swap deal for either Guendouzi or Torriera makes sense !! and as Roma are already looking at Koslasinac then offer him in a loan deal and a sweetner of 2 million towards his wages !! jobs a good one !!

How come no one talks about Abdoulaye Doucoure. He is premiership tested and scores goals.

I think he would be a good buy for Arsenal.

David Luiz should be given the no 4 position. He is a good passer of the ball and a bit aggressive. Moreso, he loves to attack.

Those are my thoughts as well, David Luiz would be brilliant as a holding midfielder. He knows how to mark and is brilliant with the ball, great passer…
