Arsenal have confirmed Mohamed Elneny has been ruled out for two weeks plus we have the latest on Hector Bellerin, Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac ahead of our League Cup clash with Blackpool.

Elneny was fully expected to start in the Carabao Cup tomorrow night but the midfielder sparked fears he had picked up a knock on social media and Arsenal have now confirmed he’s been ruled out with a thigh problem.

The Egyptian international is expected to be on the sidelines for the next two weeks which means he’ll miss the upcoming games against Blackpool, Liverpool, Sporting Lisbon and Wolves before the November international break.

In a further blow, Bellerin has been ruled out of the League Cup fourth round clash after suffering a thigh injury against Crystal Palace at the weekend and the right-back is facing a race against time to be fit for the visit of Liverpool next weekend.

The club have also revealed that Monreal and Kolasinac will face late fitness tests ahead of the visit of Blackpool on Wednesday night as they look to return from hamstring injuries that have kept them out for the last three games.

Laurent Koscielny continues to build on his fitness in training after recovering from a serious Achilles injury that’s kept him on the sidelines since May of last season while Dinos Mavropanos is still out with a groin problem.

The team news update on Arsenal.com said:

Nacho Monreal
Minor right hamstring. Being assessed ahead of Blackpool (h) on Wednesday, October 31.

Sead Kolasinac
Minor right hamstring. Being assessed ahead of Blackpool on Wednesday, October 31.

Hector Bellerin
Right thigh. Misses Blackpool (h), being assessed ahead of Liverpool (h) on Saturday, November 3.

Mo Elneny
Right thigh. Expected to return to full training in two weeks.

Laurent Koscielny
Right Achilles tendon repair. Currently being integrated back into full training.

Dinos Mavropanos
Groin injury. Expected to return to full training in November.

Let’s pray Bellerin, Monreal and Kolasinac recover in time to face Liverpool. We’ll be able to make-do without them against Blackpool but the thought of Sadio Mane and Mo Salah up against Stephan Lichtsteiner and Granit Xhaka is a terrifying prospect.

You mean the same Lichtsteiner who tied up Neymar for 90 minutes? You must have missed the World Cup this summer.
