From Spain: Arsenal make audacious offer to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, Madrid want £106m

By on June 28, 2018

Shock reports in Spain, via AS, claim that Arsenal are among the clubs to have put forward an offer to sign Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid have slashed his asking price to £106m.

Ronaldo has been arguably the best player is world football since joining Madrid from Manchester United in 2009 as he’s plundered a phenomenal 450 goals in 438 games to win 4 Champions League’s, 2 La Liga titles and a host of other trophies.

The Portuguese superstar has also won five Ballon d’Or’s and led his country to the European championships in 2016 so it’s safe to say Ronaldo will go down as one of the greatest players in the history of the game.

However, his future at Madrid is uncertain as the 33-year-old hinted he was ready for a new challenge after the Champions League final win over Liverpool last month amid rumours of a fall out with Florentino Perez over a new contract.

Spanish outlet AS claim that Ronaldo is furious with Perez for breaking his promise to award him a new deal last summer and he’s also not impressed by Madrid’s reported interest in signing Neymar.

Release clause slashed

It seems Ronaldo could finally be leaving the Bernabeu as AS cite a report from OK Diario that claims Madrid have agreed to slash his release clause from a staggering £888m to a far more reasonable £106m – which applies to any club other than Barcelona and PSG.

If true, there would be no shortage of interest and the report goes on to say that Arsenal have been in talks with his agent, Jorge Mendes, and made a sensational offer to Ronaldo to try and lure him to the Emirates this summer.

However, we will face some serious competition as OK Diario claims that Chelsea, Manchester City and AC Milan have also put proposals forward to Ronaldo’s camp with the attacker wanting around £35m per year.

What to think?

Obviously I’d love to see Ronaldo come to Arsenal but I think there’s more chance of me marrying Megan Fox than the Portuguese superstar rocking up at the Emirates any time soon.

These reports have to be taken with a pinch of salt as it’s highly unlikely Arsenal would be serious suitors for Ronaldo if he does end up leaving Madrid due to the figures involved. But I have a feeling this is all a game to get another new contract.

He’s well past it. We could invest that kind of money elsewhere. That guy is sure greedy! Let him go somewhere else.
