From Italy: Arsenal in talks with Wenger replacement, agreement believed to be close

By on May 11, 2018

According to CalcioMercato, Arsenal are close to reaching an agreement with Max Allegri after holding talks with the Italian about replacing Arsene Wenger as manager.

We’ve been in the hunt for a new boss since Arsene Wenger announced three weeks ago that he’ll be leaving the club at the end of the season following nearly 22-years in charge.

The Frenchman will oversee his final match away to Huddersfield on Sunday and Arsenal chiefs are determined to name his successor well ahead of the World Cup finals.

Many names have been touted in the media as possible targets but Allegri and Mikel Arteta seem to have emerged as the front runners with many bookmakers.

Allegri is seen as the ideal candidate but there have been doubts over whether he’d leave reigning Serie A champions Juventus and guaranteed trophies, for Arsenal – who can’t even offer Champions League football.

The 50-year-old appeared to suggest after Wednesday’s Coppa Italia victory that he was planning to stay in Turin after saying he will fight to retain the title with Juventus next season after all-but securing a fourth consecutive Scudetti.

However, CalcioMercato are citing reports from ITA Sport Press that claim Arsenal are in talks with Allegri’s camp for him to become the next Arsenal manager and are close to reaching an agreement over the terms of his contract.

It remains to be seen how much truth there is behind these reports as there is so much speculation flying about these days but I’d be hugely excited if Allegri was to take over from Wenger.

For me, he’s the perfect man for the job. He’s experienced at a top club and has won numerous trophies with Juve as well as reaching two Champions League finals so he’d command the immediate respect of the Arsenal players.

There are rumours the board want a young coach like Arteta but my worry would be whether he’d be able to boss the dressing room just a couple of years after leaving as a player. Would Arteta still be seen as a ‘friend’ by the players rather than a manager?

We wouldn’t have that issue with Allegri, plus he’s a superb tactician and I think these Arsenal players clearly need to be taught the tactical side of the game, so I pray that we manage to lure Allegri to the Emirates this summer.

Allegri is my first choice any day! But I doubt we will get him. Thebody language from his recent interview suggests that he would want to stay and have another crack at the CL with Juventus. Having won everything there is to win in Italy, you have the feeling that his next ambition, like that of any other top coach in Europe, would be to win the CL. And I think he would fancy his chances of achieving that as being more at Juve than with the Gunners. I hope I’m wrong, anyway.
But if I’m right,I’d go for Ancellotti as the best of the Plan B’s. He has the relevant experience; and I think he can get the best out of our present team which, I believe, has not been taken to their full potential by Wenger.

Why Carlo for plan b? Bayern couldn’t wait to get rid..same with PSG & Real Madrid. Stop being seduced by the name. We also need a disciplinarian & he isn’t that guy.
As for Max, he was lucky to beat Spuds in the Champs league

Arteta would be the worst choice possible. Maybe the board are so ignorant they want us to suffer even more. Max Allegri is a winner and would move us forward. Let’s hope the board don’t pull the rug from under the clubs feet.

Bonaroca:- Every bit of news that comes out regarding a new Manager joining Arsenal I take with a pinch of salt. There is no doubt that Arsenal needs a top quality Manager. Mr Allegri is 50 years old, he has proven himself as a top experienced Manager with enough trophies under his belt, is capable of handling top players and in his time with Juventus, has introduced promising youngsters which Arsenal have in their Academy.
The name “ARSENAL”deserves a top quality Manager, even just for the long suffering Arsenal Supporters.

Arteta will take Arsenal to another years in wilderness. just imagine AW not being able to win an away point in 2018, and yet he promised that the present squad will be challenging in next season, thank God is going.

What experience has Arteta . what has he won as a manager. Don’t think he would match Wenger and also majority of the players don’t like him. Why do you think he went to City in the first place.

I still don’t know the reason why we want arteta and this idea shud be from gazidis, it’s obvious he want someone he can control like a remote, why can’t they sacrifice and fight it out to bring allegri in?

you Guys have said it all, Max. Alligri is the Right man for the Job, whether AFS like it or not, moreover let The Man choose his Assistant, or better still come with the same Crew that he was With in “TURIN”… So that he may, or we not be controlled by any Person… Believe that if this can happen base on ARSENAL pouring out the money…. The Man will Deliver UCL and EPL Under two Seasons….. At least all Sorrows of Bordering will Wipe out like a movie Called “WHAT HAPPEN ON MONDAY”

Arsenal is a brand name. And so are managers who have been proven winners. They are also of premium brand. Of course nothing is guaranteed in football. The moment the winning stops he will have
    to be off asap.
I cant understand why Wenger could stay so long in spite of the
    frequent huge losses.
If Arsenal want to challenge they cannot be penny pinching. I would rather they go for a brand name.
