[Tweet] Patrick Vieira reacts to Arsene Wenger’s decision to leave Arsenal
Patrick Vieira has become the latest Arsenal legend to react on social media following the news that Arsene Wenger will leave the club this summer.
Wenger sent shock waves throughout the football world after announcing on Arsenal.com on Friday morning that he’ll quit the club at the end of the season.
The Frenchman still had one year remaining on his contract but growing pressure from the board and supporters persuaded Wenger it was the right time to call it a day.
We’re destined to finish outside the top four for a second consecutive season and while we could yet win the Europa League, the board have still expressed their concerns over our poor league campaign.
It’s led to a growing number of supporters boycotting games with the Emirates half empty for our last four Premier League matches and it seems Arsene has taken note of the feelings among the fan-base when making his decision.
Understandably, the announcement has sparked hundreds of reactions from former and current Arsenal players with the likes of RvP, Cesc Fabregas, Tony Adams and Jack Wilshere all paying tribute to Wenger.
Now, Vieira has had his say with the former captain posting a simple message saying ‘thank you for everything’ which was accompanied by three images of the two men.
Vieira was one of Wenger’s best ever signings as he snapped him up from the AC Milan B team in 1996 and turned him in to one of the best midfielder players of a generation.
Patrick went on to make over 400 appearances for Arsenal and led us to 3 Premier League titles, 3 FA Cups and captained the invincibles so he certainly owes Wenger a lot for the career he enjoyed.
Here’s what he had to say on Twitter:
