Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has offered a team news update ahead of our tough trip to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

Wenger’s usual 9am Friday press conference didn’t take place this morning due to the fact our Europa League clash with Cologne didn’t finish until gone 11pm last night.

The manager therefore offered some thoughts to the media at his post match press conference last night and he revealed that Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil are slight doubts to face Chelsea on Sunday.

The duo were among seven first team regulars who missed last night’s win over Cologne and we all thought Ramsey and Ozil were also rested along with the likes of Cech, Xhaka, Welbeck and Lacazette.

However, it appears they were actually carrying knocks as Wenger has confirmed Ramsey and Ozil wouldn’t have been available for selection last night due to unspecified injuries.

The boss says the duo will need to be assessed ahead of our trip to Stamford Bridge this weekend but thankfully he’s confident they will be passed fit for the game.

We have two days less recovery time than Chelsea after they played their Champions League clash on Tuesday night but Wenger is confident that shouldn’t be a problem.

We saw Jack Wilshere make his long-awaited comeback in an Arsenal shirt last night as he made an impressive late cameo appearance against Cologne and Arsene says the run-out should help boost the injury-plagued midfielder’s confidence.

Wenger told Arsenal.com:

on Wilshere playing against Cologne…
Yes, it is good for him. You will see that it will give him more confidence and you could see that he still needs competition, Jack.

on this who didn’t feature in midweek…
We have to see about Ozil and Ramsey. I think they should be alright. All the others could have played against Cologne.

on the squad being fresh for Sunday…
Yes, I believe in three days we can recover. Overall, that should not be a problem.

Let’s pray Ramsey and Ozil are passed fit as it would be a huge blow if the pair were to miss out trip to Chelsea. We desperately need to come away with a positive result and we need our best players available in order to do so.

For one I’ll be praying that they are joined by Xhakha on the the bed and the manager is forced into playing a midfield trio that can dominate the game coz those guys are waay too lightweight for the job and are the main reason why we are unable to maintain control of the midfield against the top teams. Play Maitland Niles and Jeff Raine Adelaide with Jack Wilshire instead

Sorry Piers Morgan, Jack has much more to prove before being a regular over Ramsey, though in time and IF he can ever stay injury free, we need his creativity. Ramsey must play further forward as he -and Xhaka – are no more holding players than my mother in law is. Square pegs in round holes has been Wengers regular fault for donkeys years and still goes on. The farce of not starting Kolasinic in EVERY important game at left back must end. Monreal will never ever be a decent CB AND HOLDING IS STILL FAR TOO RAW AND LOOKED A NOVICE LAST NIGHT A back three is only effective with three reliable and strong pacy, defenders. We have only Kos, of that type at the club and have had no others for many years, which is yet another reason Wenger is not fit to manage.

I agree with Fox.Wilshire has been at Arsenal for more than 10 years and his career is littered with injuries. Any manager other than the fm would have sold him.
As for Wenger if he leaves the barn door wide open,be ready for another massive loss.Which fan can ever forget the 6-0/6-3/5-2/8-2 hammering.
The problem is his insistence on possession and endless passing. In the Cologne game, the ball broke loose and the gunners were lucky to survive .Against Chelsea it will be a tragedy to remind the fans when Drogba found time and space repeatedly.Wenger didn’t have any plan to stifle him.
Get ready for Hazard and Morata to run riot.

I would start with Welbeck, Sanchez and Lacazett over Ozil anyway as for Ramsey, he needs to be more disciplined if he is playing in a deeper midfield role.

We must not , in fact should never, play lazy players against anybody, let alone Chelsea. We should get rid of Weed Walcott for exactly this reason – if I actually said HOW I would get of Walcott, I would be arrested, so I won’t! Ozil too is only good about one game in three/four in his Arsenal career and hides in the others so what good is he if we ever want to seriously challenge the top rivals! I say sell him , while he is still worth anything. Monreal and Holding must be kept away from the team and I would sell Monreal in Jan, while Holding is very raw and has far to go to be an effective, reliable CB. We have only ONE regularly reliable outfield defender at the club and this for many years past , in Koscielny. Kolasinic looks good, if Wenger EVER had the common senSe to play him in his correct position at left back in a four. We have not the personnel to play a back three , with only one quality, pacy and reliable CB at the club, thanks to the idiot Wenger and his list of no hopers he has brought in for years past at CB, whilst fatally rejecting the chance to buy Alderweirald before Spurs got him. We still also have not one effective defensively sound holding player and have not since GILBERTO back in distant history.

Both ozil, monreal, ramsey and holding is not fit to play for now. Three men in front should be alexis, laccazette and welback. Martasekar is good for defence.
