Arsenal poised to launch audacious late swoop for £62m La Liga Star

By on August 24, 2017

We’re heading in to the business end of the summer window and according to a report in the Express, Arsenal are poised to launch an audacious late swoop to try and sign Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

Arsene Wenger has been criticised by many sections of the fan-base for his lack of activity so far as we’ve only signed Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer while Alexnader Lacazette arrived in a club record £52m deal from Lyon.

We’ve been linked with a whole host of players in recent weeks but as it stands we’re not close to signing anyone and Wenger confirmed earlier today that our proposed move for Thomas Lemar is now ‘dead’.

I’ve said all summer we’ll be in for another long season if we don’t sign a centre-back and central midfielder but it looks like Wenger is keen to further strengthen his attacking options, if reports are to be believed.

The Express are citing Diario Gol as saying that Arsenal are poised to launch an audacious late move to try and lure Madrid striker Karim Benzema to the Emirates before the window shuts.

The French international has long been linked with a move to Arsenal and the Spanish publication suggests that Wenger wants to finally sign the front-man and that a move is more likely if we end up cash-in on Alexis Sanchez.

Benzema’s place at Madrid is coming under increasing pressure as he only managed to score 11 La Liga goals last season and the European champions are still in the hunt for Kylian Mbappe.

If Madrid win the race to sign the Monaco sensation then they may decide to cash-in on Benzema and Calciomercato reported earlier this month that the striker could be available for around £62m.

It seems the 29-year-old could be offered a fresh start here in north London, however, I’d personally take these reports with a huge pinch of salt as I’d be stunned if Wenger was to splash out on another striker.

We’ve bought Lacazette and Olivier Giroud is now staying so I don’t see any room for another striker in the squad unless the club are planning to sell Danny Welbeck during the closing stages of the window.

Benzema would be a huge upgrade on Welbeck but I won’t be getting my hopes up and would prefer the club focussed on strengthening at the back and in midfield.

We do not need Karim at this stage it is waste of money getting seri to build our mid field and van Jilk to buttress the defence line

It‘s a nice thing to learn dat Alexis Sanchez, the Ox and Mesut are all staying this season. Good to see Jack Wilshere back (Jackie). But i don‘t see any reason why Arsene Wenger would want to let go of Mustafi, knowing we‘ve sold Gabriel Paulista already, Callum Chamber‘s future at the club this season not too certain, Carl Jekinson gone on loan already, Koschelny too fragile and stupid sometimes, Sacker old and injury prone, Holding young and inexperienced. Why should Mustafi go, someone that was superb last season.
Alex Iwobi should be having enough playing time on the pitch than Danny Welbeck and Theo Walcott (in as much as i love Walcott) because he is far more better than them both this term. Jack should push Ramsey and Elneny aside.
Kareem Benzima is not what we want now as Olivierer Giroud and Lacazette are more of finishers than him. I wonder why Zidane still keep him in Real Madrid.
Offload Gibbs, Debuchy, Peres, and bring in star-mildfielder like Mahrez, Julian Draxler and a good winger like Palmer. If Madrid Lucas V is made available snap him up immediately.
But keep Mustafi, he cost us over $30m.

In my view, it will be very stupid for Wenger or anyone at Arsenal to think that Arsenal (as it is now) can win the Premier League, Europa League or even the FA Cup again. We may not even come sixth this time if care is not taken. The defensive midfield is too weak; and the defenders are not versatile enough. This is why we concede goals easily.
Arsenal concede alot of goals from counter attacks and set pieces. Do we have a coach? Please work on these areas. A good team is built from defence to attack and not from attack to defence. Wenger please take note.

I have been saying for years the defence is an issue. We will
have to wait and see how the gunners cope with the Pool attack.
Suffice to say if the gunners dominate possession and stats, etc, but cant score more then the opposition, they will lose.

The defence is a mess. Need 2 CB’s with Mustafi staying, 3 if he leaves. Need 4 first choice in total for 3 positions. Keep the fullbacks as fullbacks.

tbh at the moment i feel the failings are Kroenke not Wenger. This team has been underfunded every year he’s been at the club. Wish he’d sell up and piss off.
