Arsenal in talks to land £50m attacker as Wenger eyes third signing

By on August 7, 2017

According to a report in the Mirror today, Arsenal are still locked in talks with Monaco over a potential £50m deal to sign winger Thomas Lemar this summer.

Arsene Wenger has confirmed he’s still on the market for more signings after only bringing in left-back Sead Kolasinac and striker Alexandre Lacazette so far.

A new attacker looks to be his priority and Lemar has been strongly linked with a move in the media in recent weeks but Monaco have proven extremely difficult to deal with.

We’ve reportedly seen several offers knocked back by the Ligue 1 champions as they desperately try to hang on to the remainder of their title-winning team after letting a number of players go this summer.

The speculation has died down a little recently after Monaco insisted Lemar wouldn’t be sold but the Mirror are citing a report from Sky Sports that claims Arsenal are still in negotiations with the French outfit.

The paper says that Monaco are demanding £50m for the 21-year-old’s signature and Arsenal hope to have a deal wrapped-up before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.

I’ve seen rumours suggesting that Monaco weren’t willing to sell Lemar until they had secured a replacement and they’ve just snapped-up winger Rachid Ghezzal on a free transfer so things could start to move over the coming days.

Lemar is one of the most exciting young attackers in Europe and he’d bring some real creativity to the squad as he scored 14 goals and provided 17 assists last season alone.

Let’s see how things develop but I think we’ll get a deal agreed in the end and Lemar should prove to be an excellent addition to the squad.

Lemar is not the player that Arsenal rally wants. we need a natural striker like mbappe, Arguero, coasta.
