Chilean outlet El Grafico have published an update on Alexis Sanchez this morning and it seems the Arsenal attacker is going to be fit to play during the international break.

Sanchez limped off during the second half of Saturday’s 3-1 loss to West Brom at the Hawthorns after suffering an ankle injury earlier in the game.

Arsene Wenger said after the match that he wanted to take Sanchez off at the break as his ankle was in a ‘terrible state’ following a nasty tackle from James McClean shortly before half time.

Alexis insisted on carrying on but Wenger was concerned the attacker may have suffered ankle ligament damage, which would obviously have kept him out for several weeks.

However, it looks like we’ve received some positive news as El Grafico claim that Sanchez has been given the all-clear after Arsenal carried out scans on the ankle yesterday.

The Chilean newspaper says that the 28-year-old will now link-up with the national team and be available to play in Chile’s World Cup qualifier against Argentina later this week.

If these reports are accurate, clearly it’s a relief that Sanchez hasn’t suffered any serious damage but I’d still have preferred for him to be given a rest during the international break.

For Wenger to describe the ankle as being in a ‘terrible state’ there must have at least been some damage so ideally he’d have been given the week off, but understandably he wants to play in a huge World Cup qualifier for his country.

Let’s just hope he comes through the match without aggravating the injury.
