Arsene Wenger has played down suggestions that Alexis Sanchez was involved in a bust-up with team mates following Arsenal’s humiliation in Munich.

The Sun were one of several media outlets to report that Sanchez has decided to quit Arsenal this summer with an apparent dressing room row believed to be the final straw.

Alexis was visibly depressed following our 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich on Wednesday and it seems tensions boiled over in the changing room after the game, with some reports suggesting Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was involved in the bust-up.

The rumour-mill went in to over-drive after Sanchez was spotted at Heathrow airport leaving the UK on Thursday morning with the media suggesting he’s been given time off to contemplate his future.

Alexis is approaching the final year of his contract and so far we’ve failed to agree terms over an extension, and the Sun claim he’s now decided to quit the club this summer.

However, Wenger has played down these reports after saying at his press conference this morning that there was no ‘incident’ in the changing room, just disappointment and sadness.

The boss went on to explain why Sanchez was spotted at Heathrow and it turns out he’s flown back to Barcelona to attend a court hearing over tax fraud allegations.

The Chilean international is due to return to London tomorrow and could even be involved in our FA Cup clash against Sutton on Monday night.

Obviously Wenger is going to play down whatever happens in the dressing room and I’d actually be disappointed if there wasn’t some raised voices after the Bayern debacle.

However, it’s funny to see the press get it so wrong with why Sanchez left the country yesterday. They saw him at an airport, put 2 and 2 together and not for the first time they got 5.

One huge problem with the media is its penchant for constant repetition of one issue without taking note how bored fans and readers feel about such repetitiveness. These days, if Alexis sneezes or farts then he has finally made up his mind to leave Arsenal. To me Alexis is one out of the Arsenal team that has hugely disappointed in the last few games. He might have scored 17 premiership goals this season, but he has not always been convincing. I recall his irritating tendency to hold onto the ball for too long instead of passing to a free teammate and in most cases he loses the ball. Compare him to Eden Hazard who plays with similar style and you will readily see the difference. As far as I’m concerned Alexis is a nomadic footballer, if he was world class Barcelona would not have sold him to Arsenal. With all his in- and off- pitch tantrums he gives the impression of one on a superior high grounds far above his teammates. Players come and go, the clubs replace and refresh and move on. Even with Thierry Henry(the best Arsenal player ever) and the likes of Dennis Bergkamp Arsenal still did not win the Champions league, though they once played in the final in 2006. I sincerely believe that Arsenal have always fallen short by a few additional world class players. Unless this transfer policy of placing commercial/business considerations above the footballing things will not change for better at Arsenal.

First of all, by way of introduction i am Arthur Teah. The only problem that I see here with the Arsenal team is Arsene Wenger should be very frank with the board. If he spotted a quality let the money be may available if not then he will leave.let arsenal learn to buy quality players. Yes Sanchez will leave because the board always refused to make money available for world class players. We are no more in the 90s.My advice to Wenger let him not to damage his legacy. Arsenal share holders will not change. Thanks.
