Arsenal leading race to sign £40m Belgian attacker

By on February 8, 2017

According to the Sun, Arsenal are in a strong position to sign Yannick Carrasco this summer with Atletico Madrid ready to cash-in on the attacker if a £40m offer is put on the table.

Carrasco’s future has been cast in doubt after he fell out with boss Diego Simeone and the Belgian international has been tipped to leave the Vicente Calderon at the end of the season.

The 23-year-old was enjoying an excellent campaign having scored 10 goals before his bust-up with the Atletico boss so understandably there are plenty of clubs keeping a close eye on his situation.

However, it looks like Arsenal are well positioned to secure a deal as the Sun claims that we, along with Chelsea, are currently leading the likes of Bayern Munich and PSG in the race to sign Carrasco this summer.

And it appears a deal is there to be done as the red-top paper says that Atletico are prepared to cash-in on the attacker if a £40m bid is put on the table.

That figure would be close to our record transfer so no doubt the club will think long and hard before committing such a large sum of cash but it’s the type of money we’re going to have to pay to sign the best talent in Europe these days.

We can no longer plead poverty, especially with the new TV deal kicking in, and there have been signs in recent years that Arsenal are now prepared to compete in the transfer market so it will be interesting to see if we go head-to-head with Chelsea over Carrasco.

The Belgian star is a huge talent and he first caught my eye during his spell at Monaco as he was the player to score their third goal during that painful 3-1 defeat in the Champions League two years ago.

He’s full of pace, has an eye for goal and is capable of playing anywhere across the attacking positions so he’d certainly be a useful member of the squad if were do end up signing him this summer.

Really? This could just be a rumour. In fact Wenger could be on the way out. You never know.
In fact I expect a decision by near season’s end. He has shown repeatedly he aint up to the job no matter what excuses he gives.
As said,Arsenal could be taking a gamble by discarding him. On the other hand fans don’t trust him any more.

Yannick Carrasco is a good player/forward but not worth that price, to be honest. He is capable of moments of magic every now and then but isn’t a consistent performer.
