Trio return in 4-2-3-1 line-up: My Arsenal XI To Face Barcelona

Arsenal face the daunting task of taking on Barcelona at the Nou Camp in our Champions League last-16 second leg tomorrow night….this is the team I’d like to see Arsene Wenger go with.

Goalkeeper: Ospina

Cech is out until after the international break so Ospina will once again start between the sticks against Barcelona. Let’s hope he plays like he did against Spurs and not Olympiakos!

Defence: Bellerin, Mertesacker, Gabriel, Monreal

Koscielny is back in the squad but I still wouldn’t risk him against Barcelona. Let’s be honest, we have virtually no chance of getting the result we need to progress so I’d keep Kos back for the Everton game on Saturday.

That means Gabriel should continue alongside Mertesacker while Bellerin and Monreal will come back in for Chambers and Gibbs in the full back positions.

Midfield: Coquelin, Elneny

With Ramsey, Wilshere, Cazorla, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Rosicky still out, we have few options to mix things up in midfield so Elneny should keep his place alongside Coquelin. The only viable alternative is Flamini and we all saw what he did against Barca in the first leg after needlessly giving away a late penalty.

Attack: Campbell, Ozil, Sanchez

Ozil and Sanchez will have to be on top form if we’re to get anything from this game. This is when we need our world class players, so time to step up boys.

On the right, I’d go with Campbell. Walcott’s pace would certainly cause Barca some problems on the break but he’s been woeful lately [aside from the second half against Hull] and Campbell deserves to get the nod.

Striker: Welbeck

Welbeck’s form has been excellent since he returned form injury and I’d certainly start him ahead of Giroud tomorrow. We’re not going to see much of the ball so we need a mobile frontman who’ll work hard to close them down and give us an outlet on the break. given a rest.

This would be my line-up:

Whatever team we put out, it’s going to be extremely difficult to get a positive result but hopefully the boys can pull off a miracle….

This line up would give us a positive result I bet. Hopefully Wenger doesn’t opt fo4 theo to Campbell.
