“It would be fantastic” – £22m striker wants Arsenal move

By on March 8, 2016

CSKA Moscow striker Ahmed Musa has issued a come-and-get-me-plea to Arsene Wenger after admitting he’d love to join Arsenal, according to the Mirror.

Musa has been on the books at CSKA since joining from VVV Venlo in 2012 and he’s attracted interest having scored 47 goals in 154 appearances for the Russian outfit.

The 23-year-old’s potential has caught the eye of several Premier League clubs in recent transfer windows with the Mirror claiming that Leicester City saw a £19m bid turned down in January.

The newspaper suggests that CSKA value Musa at nearer £22m and while Claudio Ranieri was set to renew his interest this summer, it looks like the striker has his eye on a move to North London instead.

The Nigerian international is quoted by the paper as saying that it would be ‘fantastic’ to play for Arsenal as he’s supported the team since the age of six and his childhood hero was Gunners’ legend Nwankwo Kanu.

“I would be happy if I was wanted by Arsenal.

“I have supported the team since the age of six. Nwankwo Kanu has been my idol since childhood. It would be fantastic to play for Arsenal.

“I will not hide it – Leicester actually came to our club. But I repeat that I want to finish the season with CSKA to help them to win a championship, and then think about changing team.”

Arsene Wenger has been under pressure to bring in another striker in recent windows and we’ll have to wait and see if he decides to make a move for Musa this summer, but I’m not sure fans would be content with his signing.

He has potential, but he’s not the established world class striker we need to turn us in to a proper top team who could compete for the Champions League. We don’t need any more projects, we need a ready-made striker who can come straight in and hit the ground running next season.

And £22m would be a lot for s player who’s yet to prove himself outside of Russia, so I’d personally rather we use our vast wealth to target the likes of Aubameyang this summer.
