It looks like we’ve been handed some welcome news on the injury front with Arsene Wenger confirming that Francis Coquelin, Santi Cazorla and Mikel Arteta are all on the comeback trail.

Coquelin has been on the sidelines since suffering knee ligament damage during our loss at West Brom in November and he was initially ruled out for at least three months.

Cazorla soon joined him on the treatment table as the midfielder also picked up a knee ligament injury during our draw at Norwich and he was expected to be out for up to four months.

However, the boss has now appeared to confirm a double boost after telling talkSPORT that Coquelin is already back running while Cazorla is apparently now expected back in mid-February.

The final update from the boss was on Arteta and he says the 33-year-old is already back after recovering from his latest calf problem.

When asked about potential new signings this month, Arsene said he wasn’t looking to bring in too many new faces as our injured players are on the comeback trail.

“It’s more about quality than quantity because our players will not stay out injured forever. Francis Coquelin is starting to run, Santi Cazorla will be back in mid-February, and Mikel Arteta is back now so, hopefully, if we can add one and, if needed, two maximum.”

It would be a MAJOR boost if Coquelin and Cazorla were to return sooner than expected and it certainly sounds like they are ahead of schedule.

However, we should remain cautious for now as they could easily suffer setbacks as they step up their rehabilitation so we’ll just have to see how they progress over the coming weeks.
