Arsenal Miss Out On €35m Star Despite Him Being ‘Desperate’ To Join

By on June 11, 2015

It appears Arsenal are set to miss out on the signing of Jackson Martinez with the Colombian international on the verge of joining AC Milan, according to widespread reports today.

Martinez has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates in recent months with speculation suggesting that Arsene Wenger had made the Porto star his top striker target this summer.

There were reports last month that claimed the 28-year-old had agreed personal terms with us and the Mirror then suggested last week that the striker was ‘desperate’ to join Arsenal.

The players agent stoked the fire yesterday after telling reporters that Martinez has agreed to join a ‘top European club’ after the mystery team supposedly agreed to meet the strikers €35m (£25m) buy out clause.

Luiz Henrique Pompeo said:

“The departure from Porto will be a reality in the coming days. Just details are missing.

“Porto will receive the full €35m [£25m] of his release clause. Jackson will continue in a top European club.”

Amid all the other rumours, many assumed it was Arsenal he was off to. However, news soon filtered through that AC Milan were also in the running and it seems the Italians are now on the verge of sealing the deal.

According to reports in Italy today, AC Milan chief Adriano Galliani has been in Portugal this week and has now found an agreement with Porto, and the striker has agreed a four-year deal worth €3.5m a year to make the move to the San Siro.

So it seems we’ve now missed out on one of our key targets. Martinez has been in great form for Porto and bagged 32 goals last season, so he’d certainly have added a new goal threat to our team had he come to the Emirates.

However, I’m not too disappointed. There are still strong rumours we’re in for Gonzalo Higuain and I’d much prefer we sign the Argentinean international this summer.

This was the super agent stepping in to interfere – no doubt for his own benefit.

Arsene Wenger is a very big problem for Arsenal and Arsenal transfer businesses because of his penny-pinching.What is the news about Jackson Martinez this morning. We have lost him again.
This attacker is far better than Benzema and all others we are associated with these days. He a warrior and very good finisher. All others don’t struggle for the ball, the worst is Girou. Infact if we miss Jackson, i would stop supporting Arsenal team, because Arsenal will never win league again with Wenger incharge.
