Arsenal ‘In Talks’ Over Potential €20m Deal For DREAM Midfielder

By on January 9, 2015

Some very interesting transfer news to bring you with reports claiming that Arsenal have held preliminary talks with the agent of Ilkay Gundogan about a potential €20m move.

Gundogan’s contract expires in 18 months time and the Mirror claim that the midfielder has told Borussia Dortmund he has no intention of signing an extension and wants to move to the Premier League.

The Bundesliga outfit are going to make him one final contract offer but if he refuses to sign it, then they’re supposedly ready to cash-in as they don’t want to lose another player to a free transfer having seen Robert Lewandowski walk away when his contract expired last summer.

The newspaper suggests that Arsenal have already been in contact with the 24-year-old’s agent about a potential €20m (£16m) move to North London, with the players representative not ruling out a deal being agreed in January.

Arsene Wenger has been linked with a move for Gundogan in the past, so these links come as no surprise, and I think he’d be a DREAM signing if we could somehow pull it off.

The German international was developing into one of the finest midfielders in Europe before a serious back injury ruled him out for a whole year.

He’s not long been back to full fitness and we’d have to be confident the back injury is totally gone, but I’d be delighted if we could bring him to the Emirates as he’d be an excellent long-term replacement for Mikel Arteta.

My only concern is he’s a little short as ideally we need a real beast of a player in the middle of the park, but I wouldn’t hold that against him. If he’s available, we should be all over that deal!

Mr Wenger l don’t know why u have not sign any player by now, a lot of serious manager that knows what they want and what they are have gotten one or two players. As usual u are waiting for the last minute before u now rush and buy any how player. Sir change your philosophy or if are Short of idea then humbly leave the seat and let us the fans enjoy ourself. Enough is enough we can’t continue to live this kind of life anymore. You’ll be the first person in the market eventually you end up buying the remnant. Buy now so that the player will have enough time to blend with other player before league and champions league get tensed.

I don’t know the problem with this professor, the same mentality every year and when you are refer to as specialist in failure then you are angry. Wenger do you think you can win any major title with this crop of players? Then you must be a joker okay! Prove me wrong please

I don’t understand you guys what makes you think wenger will sign this month the best we will get will be a player on loan and then finish 4th because that’s wengers logic. We won’t be getting anyone because it’s his policy as he doesn’t believe in the January transfer window that’s why I don’t get happy when it comes to this time of the month because by the time it finishes we will still be doing the same thing we have been doing for the past 10 years or longer thanks to wenger.

I get incensed with some people who are obsessed with signing players just because the window has opened. We need to establish what kind of players, if any, we require before we start questioning Wenger’s sanity because he hasn’t signed anybody yet. Is it just signing players for the sake of it or because of need? It is true we have been having injuries and we need at least a defensive mid fielder and cover in central defence. These are the two positions where we need reinforcement but even without buying anybody we can still finish the season on a high with the players we already have so long as we don’t get serious injuries. Many people will not like my assessment but I believe it is borne out of true facts on the ground and people with objective minds will concur with me.
