Arsenal Could Land Draxler NOW With €45m+ Bid

By on January 13, 2014

Arsenal could sign Julian Draxler this month if we table a bid in excess of his €45m buy-out clause, according to German-based agent Jan Aage Fjortoft.

Draxler has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates in recent months and we came close to agreeing a deal with Schalke in the summer before the player opted to remain in the Bundesliga in order to secure his place in the German World Cup squad.

We’ve maintained our interest and reports have suggested Arsene Wenger was prepared to wait until the end of the season before trying to finally land the highly-rated 20-year-old – who’s €45m (£37.5m) release clause can only be activated in the summer and not mid-season.

Fjortoft claimed a few weeks ago that Draxler has already been shown around the Arsenal training facilities and the player himself has previously admitted he has spoken with Per Mertesacker and Mesut Ozil about life in north London, so all signs point to a summer move being a real possibility.

However, Theo Walcott’s injury has forced Wenger’s hand and some say the boss may try and bring forward the move to this month.

The major stumbling block over any January deal appears to be the fact that Schalke are still in the Champions League but now Fjortoft has claimed that he’s been told the German’s may be persuaded to cash in NOW if we table a bid in excess of his €45m buy-out fee.

Fjortoft – who is now an agent and TV pundit after hanging up his boots – was the first to break news of Ozil’s move to Arsenal and has also proved to be reliable with his information regarding Robert Lewandowsk and Mario Gotze’s moves to Bayern Munich, so he certainly one of the more trustworthy ITK’s out there.

He doesn’t state how much we’d have to pay to land Draxler this month, but it’s likely we’ll have to break our transfer record again and spend over €50m. Can you see Wenger spending that kind of money this month? I’m not convinced.

Draxler is certainly hugely talented and would be an excellent addition, but I’m not getting my hopes up that we’ll see him move to the Emirates this month.

This does seem highly unlikely but who knows,
but if he was signed up in January it would be a massive boost to the team,
just like the ozil transfer was.

I can’t see any reason not to sign Draxler now. His price is not going to go down in the summer. And why show the kid around the training ground if you aren’t going to sign him. Just do it and give the squad a massive lift. Please

@Williams Akinyele…what do you means by Arsenal make too much noise in transfer market? Is there any statement regarding any transfer that you can credit to anyone at the Emirates. Has Wenger publicly declared interest in any player? So what makes Arsenal a noisy club? The fact that press decides to carry so much rumour about Arsenal does not make Arsenal a noisy club. I’ll urge us fans to relax and allow Wenger do what’s best for the team. This was the same way we tried pushing him to sign both Lamela and Jovetic. But they are both warming d bench in their respective clubs. Please let’s allow Wenger do his thing.

Apart from a striker which is our primary target arsenal need to sign another talented midifield so as to raise the game of Wilsher and Ramsey, these two are our best young player but they need more competition to take their game up, Ramsey has done it arleady after the arrival of Ozil. We need Dlaxler and he need arsenal so Arsene should not slip as he did with Hazard and Mata. GET well soon Theoooo, we missed u!!!

I tink Draxler will be a good addition dis January bt I doubt maybe Schakle could sell there best dis winter. @Akinyele Wenger is a very good coach respect dan any coach in terms of transfer. He has never name a player he wil buy,he called winter transfer a distraction in football which I strongly agree. with. Pls,Arsenal is not a noisy club. I think Giroud show good talent in our win against Villa, hope he continue like dat. Joel Campell is performing brillantly in Greece, scoring 6goal and 9 assist in 18 games where he make 13 start,I think he will be a good option for Arsenal next season. Keep d faith!!!
