Moyes Confirms United Have Made Improved Bid For Fabregas – Playing Games?

By on July 22, 2013

Manchester United appear to be pressing ahead with their ‘move’ for Cesc Fabregas after manager David Moyes confirmed the club have submitted a second offer for former Arsenal captain.

The champions tabled an offer of around £26m last week and according to Sky Sports News, the new bid is £30m plus add-ons but Barcelona are not going to make any decision until they appoint a successor to Tito Vilanova – who stepped down on Friday to continue his battle against cancer.

Speaking at a press conference today, Moyes confirmed the second bid had gone in and he hoped his deals would fall into place soon. When quizzed about the progress on Fabregas, Moyes told reporters:

“My understanding is that Ed’s had a response and he’s spoken with them [Barcelona] and again we’ve made a second offer. But Ed’s dealing with that, rather than me personally here.

“I think a point does come but I think when you are interested in good players you want to give it every opportunity to materialise.

“And I’ll do that. I’ll hope that things can continue to try to move forward.

“At this moment in time I Can only tell you that Ed Woodward is working hard to make the deals happen and we’re hoping some of them will fall into place shortly.” He told the Telelgraph

I really don’t know what to make of all this. The whole situation is rather odd. Surely United must know their chances of signing Fabregas are practically zero, so why the public pursuit? Why is Moyes openly admitting he’s made bids for him?

My best guess is he’s trying to placate the United fans and turn attention away from the whole Rooney-saga by making it look like the club are trying to bring in a world class talent in Fabregas. Or, he’s using it as a smokescreen to hide another potential deal.

My guess is United know they won’t sign Fabregas and they’re actually after someone like Luka Modric. He’d be far more attainable and Madrid are desperate to raise money to fund moves for Luis Suarez and/or Gareth Bale.

Fabregas has made it perfectly clear in the past that he’d only ever return to England to play for Arsenal, plus we have the whole buy-back clause, etc, so I think we all know United’s pursuit is going to hit a dead end.

Here’s my reasons why United WONT sign Fabregas

Sky Sports News are trying to push the whole ‘Fabregas to United’ thing down our throats like it could happen, but in their ‘reports’ they fail to mention we’re firmly in control due to our buy-back clause. If United have a bid accepted it activates the clause, Wenger would jump at the chance to re-sign him if Cesc wants out of Barca and the player will only ever leave them for us, so I don’t know what the fuss is all about.

There must be something going on we, as fans, have no knowledge of, nor the media for that matter. On the face of it Moyes is flogging a dead horse but surely he can’t be that naive?

Why are u tryna convince/delude yourself into thinking theres zero chancr he would come?I’m sure you would have spoken the same way about rvp too and if fabregas loved arsenal soooo much he wouldn’t have left surely? And don’t give me that crap that barca is his home club cos if arsenal were winning trophies i’m sure he would have stayed. Also you fail to acknowledge that fabregas has not come out once and said theres no way he would join utd as vidal did wen there was circulation around him. Also sky sports understand that if barca get a bid around 35 million they would sell and fabregas would then be open to a move to the CHAMPIONS of england. So if a deal happens i’m gonna torment the hell out of all the deluded arsenal supporters. Also why are u not allowing my comment to go through?

Hitzwood Yr grammer is as good as yr understanding of the reports coming out of Barca no1: they have said he is not for sale no2: he has said he doesnt want a move no3: Wenger stated that should that change, an he has also been told by Cesc that that is the situation, that Arsenal would pursue him an invoke the buy back clause.
So why not take yr arrogant “we are english champions” attitude an stick it with a twist, an by the way are u even english yr self or did u simply choose yr team by looking at who was top bet yr “other” teams are Real, AC Milan, Bayern etc etc

The buy back clause is on valid if fabregas wants to return to arsenal(LOL).Barca saying he’s not for sale is just a tactic to raise the fee to around 35 million. Also fabregas stated if barca don’t want him he would leave so in others words if they accept a price from utd its more than likely he would join

You fool yr a idiot Cesc has stated many times its ONLY Arsenal he would cone back for so what makes you belive if Barca agree to sell its old trafford he will end up at or are u better informed on his choices than the rest of us.Personally l tend to listen to what he has said rather than what arrogant Man utd fans think he will do
In short typical attitude from man utd fans picking an choosing only those reports that suit them

Fabregas has stated he WILL leave if barca agree to sell.Do you seriously think he will go back to arsenal?Tottenham will finish 4th this season with arsenal fighting for 5th with liverpool. And if there was absolutely didn’t want to go to utd i’m sure he would have made a statement by now saying so.I swear your as deluded as liverpool fans

Anyway fabregas left arsenal to win trophies so why would he return to a team which have dropped in quality than when he was there?

Like I said you fool picking an choosing yr stories to suit what u want to be the truth. Fabregas HAS stated he will only return to EPL with Arsenal in an interveiw shown on Sky Sports and as for yr argument of why hasnt he said he is not interested in leaving Barca an joining Man Utd thats because he is under contract to Barca and players under contract to one club tend not to talk about joining another. Also Barca have said several times in the last week that he isnt for sale but you just seem to ignore these FACTS an continue with yr deluded theories that he cant wait to join Man Utd
