Arsenal have been handed a major boost as Aaron Ramsey is expected to resume training next week but there isn’t such positive news on Sead Kolasinac.

Ramsey was due to start against Chelsea on Wednesday night but the midfielder was withdrawn as a precaution shortly before kick off after picking up a knock during the pre-match warm up routine.

Unai Emery drafted in youngster Emile Smith Rowe to replace Rambo in the middle of the park as we came from behind to beat the Blues on penalties after salvaging a 1-1 draw in Dublin.

Thankfully, the club have now confirmed that Ramsey just had a tight calf and is hoping to be able to resume full training next week ahead of our Premier League opener against Manchester City.

Kolasinac did start the International Champions Cup clash at the Aviva Stadium in midweek but he limped off midway through the second half clutching his knee.

The 25-year-old was replaced in the 70th minute by Ainsley Maitland-Niles and it’s now been confirmed Kolasinac will miss at least 8 weeks after sustaining a serious knee injury.

An update on Arsenal.com said:

Aaron Ramsey

Developed tightness in his right calf. Continues to be assessed. Aiming to train next week.

Sead Kolasinac

Sustained an injury to his left knee. Will be out for 8-10 weeks.

It’s a huge relief that Ramsey hasn’t picked up any serious problem and as long as he’s able to return to full training early next week he should be fine to start against City at the Emirates.

However, Kolasinac will miss the season opener and the trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea the following week with the full-back set to miss at least 9 games at the start of the new campaign.

The Bosnian’s injury gives Emery a headache as Nacho Monreal isn’t match fit yet having only returned to pre-season training last week so Maitland-Niles may have to start at left-back against City.
