Bernd Leno has been training at London Colney for the first time today since joining the club from Bayer Leverkusen last month.

Unai Emery identified a new goalkeeper as a priority after replacing Arsene Wenger as manager at the end of last season as David Ospina is expected to leave after failing to hold down a regular place and Petr Cech is coming towards the end of his illustrious career.

Leno emerged as a prime target for our new boss after developing in to one of the most consistent goalkeepers in the Bundesliga during his time with Leverkusen and we quickly agreed a deal worth a reported £19m.

Leno completed his move to Arsenal on June 19th but wasn’t among the players to report for pre-season training last week as he was given an extra week to finalise his move from Germany to London.

However, the 26-year-old finally reported for duty with Arsenal today and photos have emerged of the keeper enjoying his first day’s training at London Colney.

Leno will be available for our entire pre-season campaign and is expected to head to Singapore with the rest of the squad later this month to continue our preparations ahead of the new season.
