Emery gives Arsenal chiefs green light to complete signing of £25m World Cup star

By on June 22, 2018

According to reports in Russia via the Mirror, Unai Emery has given Arsenal’s transfer chiefs the green light to push forward with a deal to sign £25m-rated CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin.

Emery has been busy strengthening our defensive unit as we’ve already wrapped-up the signings of right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner and goalkeeper Bernd Leno while a deal to sign Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund is also understood to be on the verge of completion.

However, our new head coach knows he needs to revamp our midfield options this summer as Santi Cazorla has left to rejoin Villarreal while Jack Wilshere has confirmed he’ll leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the month.

We’re being strongly tipped to sign Sampdoria star Lucas Torreira but Emery could do with two new central midfielders and it seems he’s ready to pounce for one of the stars of the World Cup so far.

Golovin has been in excellent form for Russia during the opening stages having starred during wins over Saudi Arabia and Egypt and reports claim Arsenal scouts have been watching with interest.

We’ve been linked with the 22-year-old over the past year but it seems we’ve stepped-up our interest as the Mirror are citing a report from Sport Express that claims Arsenal scouts have sent back positive reports to Emery.

The Russian outlet says our new boss has now given Arsenal chiefs the green light to complete a deal to sign Golovin this summer with CSKA Moscow demanding around £25m for their star man.

No formal offer has been made yet, however, we may want to act fast to get a deal agreed as the report says Juventus have already expressed their interest while Manchester United are also sniffing around.

Golovin looks a huge talent and we saw first hand last season how much quality he has as he scored a wonderful free-kick against Arsenal during our Europa League tie so I think he’d be an exciting addition to the squad.
