Agent: Arsenal are in ‘concrete talks’ to sign £35m ace, Mislintat driving negotiations

By on June 8, 2018

According to Turkish Football, Caglar Soyuncu’s agent has confirmed Arsenal are in ‘concrete talks’ to sign the Freiburg defender with Sven Mislintat driving the negotiations.

Unai Emery is ready to overhaul our defence after we shipped an embarrassing 51 Premier League goals under Arsene Wenger last season and we need to sign at least one new centre-back.

Per Mertesacker has retired, Laurent Koscielny is out for six months with an Achilles injury and Shkodran Mustafi’s future is in doubt after a disappointing two seasons at the club so you could argue we need two central defenders.

We’ve been strongly linked with Borussia Dortmund’s Sokratis Papastathopoulos but it appears Arsenal chiefs are also looking to sign a more youthful defender and Soyuncu has emerged as a prime target.

Widespread reports suggest we’ve been keeping a close eye on the 22-year-old and Soyuncu admitted earlier this month that Arsenal were showing a keen interest in signing him.

It seems we’ve now stepped-up our pursuit as Soyuncu’s agent, Mustafa Dogru, has revealed in an exclusive interview with Turkish Football that Arsenal are in ‘concrete talks’ to sign the player.

Dogru says Sven Mislintat is leading the negotiations as he’s been tracking Soyuncu since his days in Germany and he suggests that we just need to agree a fee to land the talented Turkish international.

However, the agent also went on to reveal that we’re facing stiff competition from several other clubs from throughout Europe but he feels the centre-back is perfectly suited to playing in the Premier League.

Dogru told Turkish Football:

“Sven Mislintat has been keen on Caglar since he was at Borussia Dortmund. He first scouted him back in Germany. Sven is interested in Caglar, there are concrete talks, all that remains is for a fee to be agreed. We will see what happens next.”

“What I will say regarding the Liverpool link is that there were four to five Premier League clubs scouting him over the international break. There are four Premier League sides who’ve made a move for Soyuncu, that we are in talks with.”

“There is also interest from Atletico Madrid in Spain and a few clubs in France, Italy and Germany,”

“I’m not surprised by the interest, Caglar is a modern defender, he’s mobile, fast, dual-footed, has an excellent passing range. He’s tough and very physical, I think the Premier League is ideal for a defender with his attributes.”

“Freiburg has been a great experience for Caglar, the manager has done a terrific job taking him to the next level. I think he is ready now for a new challenge but we will see what happens.”

We’ll have to wait and see how negotiations progress but Football London claimed recently that Freiburg are demanding around £35m for Soyuncu’s signature so a deal won’t be cheap.

For the last decade or so,the gunners defence had become non existent.
Having taken the lead in many games they are unable to win and at times have lost.
There are many examples ie the loss to Wigan despite a 2 goal lead, the 2-1defeat to Hull and the worst the 4-4 draw with NU.
The fm shd have been sacked after 2008.He ws arrogant as ever and dismissed the need for a defence coach. Well. Well.
Hopefully the new manager will make the defence and Arsenal hard to beat before going kami kaze on the attack.
I have faith the new guy will have a better defence compared to the fm.
