From France: Arsenal favourotes to sign £60m attacker, player keen on move

According to reports in France via the Mirror, Arsenal have emerged as favourites to sign Anthony Martial in what could be a £60m move from Manchester United this summer.

Martial has struggled to cement himself as a regular under Jose Mourinho this season and he’s fallen even further down the pecking order since Alexis Sanchez’s arrival in January.

The French international has started just 16 Premier League games and hasn’t made Mourinho’s starting eleven since being publicly criticised by the United boss following their 2-0 FA Cup win over Brighton a month ago.

Understandably, Martial has grown increasingly frustrated with his bit-part role at Old Trafford and is reportedly ready to look for a fresh challenge at the end of the season.

Arsenal are one of several clubs who’ve been linked with a move for the attacker in recent days with top clubs throughout Europe all ready to battle-it-out over Martial’s signature.

However, the Mirror are citing a report from Le10 Sport that claims Arsenal have now emerged as favourites to sign the Frenchman in a potential £60m deal from United.

The French publication says Martial wants to remain in the Premier League and is open to a move to the Emirates – although he’s also keeping his options open with the likes of Chelsea and Spurs also keen.

The 22-year-old has a huge amount of potential and I don’t see him fulfilling it under Mourinho at United [just ask De Bruyne and Salah] so a move this summer makes sense and I’d love to see him come to Arsenal.

I’ve said for months that we lack pace and width in the squad and Martial would provide both, so it would be exciting to see him playing alongside the likes of Ozil, Aubameyang, Lacazette and Mkhitaryan next season.

However, it remains to be seen whether United would be willing to do business with us so I’m not getting my hopes up just yet.
