Arsenal ready to sign Ligue 1 star with formal £52m bid – report

By on April 18, 2018

According to a report by TeamTalk, Arsenal are ready to launch a formal £52m bid to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot but will face competition from Juventus.

Rabiot has long been linked with a move to the Emirates with Arsene Wenger understood to have tracked the youngster since he emerged from the PSG youth system in 2012.

The 23-year-old has finally become a first team regular at the Stade des Prince with Rabiot making over 40 appearances in all competitions to help PSG clinch yet another Ligue 1 title this season.

However, the French international put a whole host of clubs – including Arsenal – on red alert after refusing to commit himself to PSG beyond the end of the current campaign.

When asked if he’ll still be at the club next season, Rabiot is quoted by TeamTalk as saying recently:

“I don’t know, we will see. But, for now, I want to enjoy every moment and every trophy with my club.”

It looks like Arsenal are now ready to step-up their interest as Tuttosport, via TeamTalk, claim we’re set to test PSG’s resolve with a formal £52m bid for the midfield.

We desperately need to overhaul our midfield options as Jack Wilshere is being tipped to leave after failing to sign a new deal while Aaron Ramsey is approaching the final year of his contract.

Granit Xhaka has been a disappointing signing and Santi Cazorla is unlikely to play for us again following a serious Achilles injury so Arsenal need to sign at least one midfielder and it seems we’re in for Rabiot.

However, the Italian publication says we’ll face stiff competition as Juventus are also chasing the player as they look for alternatives to Emre Can – who’s yet to respond to their offer ahead of a potential free transfer move from Liverpool.

So it looks like we’re facing a battle to sign Rabiot but I’d love to see him come to Arsenal as I think he’d be a superb addition to the squad.
