£94m attacker considering joining Arsenal as Wenger lines-up big-money move

According to report in Spain via the Express, Ousmane Dembele is considering joining Arsenal in a stunning summer move after growing unsettled with life at Barcelona.

Dembele emerged as one of the hottest talents in Europe during his time with Borussia Dortmund before earning a £94m move to the Nou Camp just last summer.

However, the 20-year-old’s time in Catalan hasn’t gone smoothly as he’s played just 360 minutes of La Liga football this season after missing the majority of the campaign with a thigh injury.

Despite returning to full fitness in January, Dembele has struggled to force his way in to Ernesto Valverde’s starting eleven and it’s led to speculation the attacker is frustrated at the club.

The Express are now citing a report from Diario Gol that claims Arsenal are desperate to offer the French international a fresh here in London and will attempt to sign Dembele this summer.

Arsene Wenger is hanging on to his job by a thread following consecutive wins over Milan and Watford but there is a growing feeling it’s time for a change of leadership at the end of the season.

Whoever is in charge, Arsenal are expected to be busy this summer and we need to add some width to the squad as we have a real lack of wide players at present.

Dembele would solve that issue as he can play on either wing and the report coming out of Spain claims that he is considering a move to Arsenal even if we fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Diario Gol say Dembele doesn’t feel any support from fellow attackers Lionel Messi or Luis Suarez and believes he needs to leave Barcelona to get his career back on track and Arsenal are a viable option for him.

If he was to join Arsenal then we’d no doubt have to pay a club record fee as Barca will want to recoup as much of the £94m they paid Dortmund as possible but I think he’d be an excellent signing.

Dembele would be able to link-up with former team mate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the Emirates and the pair grew close during their time together in Germany so hopefully they can renew that bond in London next season.

    Says who? Every time Arsenal have a run of bad results these stories pop up and every time they turn out to be rubbish. It may be that the team will change managers in the summer, but it is untrue and irresponsible to say so because only two people really matter when it comes to Wenger’s place at the club; Arsene Wenger and Stan Kroenke. So far Stan Kroenke has been silent and Arsene Wenger says he intends to honor his contract. Based on those unquestionable facts, it is more likely Le Prof will be Arsenal’s manager next season.

    Putting forth the author’s wishes as likely club actions is stupid. The idea that empty seats, banners, or any other fan displays will push the owner of Arsenal Football Club into doing anything is delusional. Those delusions are more damaging to the relationship of the fans to the club than any performance issues.
