[Player Ratings] Arsenal 3-0 Watford: Elneny & Cech impress, Iwobi poor

By on March 11, 2018

We finally picked up three points in the Premier League after beating Watford 3-0 at the Emirates this afternoon.

Mustafi headed us in front early on before Aubameyang made it 2-0 early in the second half after being set-up by Mkhitaryan. Cech then saved a crucial penalty a minute later to maintain our 2-0 lead and Miki wrapped-up the win late on.

Here are my ratings:

Cech  8/10 | Finally saved a penalty! Made a couple of solid saves during the game too. Great to see him get his 200th clean sheet.

Maitland-Niles  7/10 | Silly tackle gave away a penalty but was otherwise very impressive at right-back.

Mustafi  7.5/10 | Lovely header to make it 1-0 and put in an excellent performance at the back before limping off in the second half.

Holding  7/10 | A very solid display from the youngster. Didn’t really put a foot wrong and was strong in the air.

Kolasinac  6.5/10 | Lively in the first half down the left but quieter after the break.

Elneny  8/10 | An all-action performance from the Egyptian. He was everywhere and worked his socks off. One of his best display’s in an Arsenal shirt.

Xhaka  7/10 | Neat and tidy in midfield. Kept things simple.

Iwobi  6/10 | A poor display from the youngster. Showed plenty of willing but things just aren’t coming off for him right now.

Ozil  7/10 | Nice ball to release Auba early on and got his 50th league assist with the free-kick for Mustafa’s header. Missed a huge chance to score at 1-0.

Mkhitaryan  7/10 | Got an assist for Aubameyang’s goal and grabbed his first league goal for the club but his general play was poor as he lost possession countless times.

Aubameyang  7/10 | Unlucky not to open the scoring early on but got his goal in the second half with a well taken finish.

Subs:

Welbeck  6, Chambers 6, Wilshere N/A

It was a comfortable win in the end but things could have been different had Cech not saved the penalty at 2-0. Let’s hope this win boosts the confidence ahead of Thursday’s Europa League clash with AC Milan.
