Arsenal boss offers update on Nacho Monreal injury ahead of Man City clash
Arsene Wenger has held his pre-match press conference this morning ahead of tomorrow night’s clash with Manchester City and he’s provided the latest team news.
Nacho Monreal was forced off with a back injury in the first half during our disappointing 3-0 defeat to City in the final of the Carabao Cup at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.
The boss has confirmed the inflammation in his back will keep Monreal out for at least the next two games against City and Sunday’s clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.
However, the Spanish full-back is also a major doubt for the first leg of our Europa League clash with AC Milan next week and following league game with Watford at the Emirates.
Otherwise, we have a strong squad available for tomorrow’s game as we picked up no other injuries against City and Aaron Ramsey came through the final unscathed after returning from a groin problem.
Alexandre Lacazette is still unavailable as the French international continues to recover following knee surgery earlier this month while Santi Cazorla is obviously still not back from his long-term ankle problem.
Monreal injury: "He is out for the two games, Thursday and Sunday, he might be out for Milan and maybe one more. He has an inflamed back." #AFC
