Sky Sports: Aubameyang undergoing Arsenal medical after Wenger ‘confirms’ deal

By on January 31, 2018

According to Sky Sports News, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is currently undergoing his medical with Arsenal ahead of his big-money move from Borussia Dortmund.

After weeks of negotiations, we finally found a breakthrough in talks with Kicker reporting that we had agreed a deal worth around £55m to sign the Gabon international.

Aubameyang was spotted leaving Dortmund airport en route to London on Tuesday and he was soon snapped arriving at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground yesterday afternoon to finalise terms.

Many fans questioned/joked whether the 28-year-old may have second thoughts about the move after watching our disastrous performance against Swansea last night.

However, it seems the move is still on track as Sky Sports reporter Bryan Swanson has tweeted to say that Aubameyang is currently undergoing his medical with Arsenal.

He said on twitter:

Assuming there are no late hiccups, Aubameyang should complete his switch to Arsenal over the coming hours and Arsene Wenger has even been recorded suggesting it’s already a ‘done deal’.

Speaking after the game last night, the club accidentally uploaded a video of the boss appearing to confirm that Aubameyang was an Arsenal player. Check it out here:

It seems this was a pre-recorded video in anticipation of Aubameyang joining Arsenal so I don’t think it was necessarily ‘confirmation’ the deal is already complete.

As has been widely reported in recent days, Dortmund will only sign-off on the Aubameyang deal once they secure a replacement and they have a loan deal in place for Michy Batshuayi.

But in order for Chelsea to release the Belgian international they need to find a replacement and unfortunately it seems we’ve agreed to sell them Olivier Giroud for just £18m.

So things are moving along nicely and Aubameyang should be confirmed as an Arsenal player later today.
