Details emerge of dressing-room bust-up involving Sanchez and Arsenal team mates

By on December 29, 2017

The Guardian are reporting that Alexis Sanchez was involved in a dressing-room bust-up following Arsenal’s win over Burnley in late November.

It’s been well documented that tensions between Sanchez and some of his team mates have been growing for several months and a so-called ‘divide’ in the dressing room was exposed during the win at Crystal Palace last night.

Sanchez scored a fine goal to put us 2-1 ahead but Laurent Koscielny, Héctor Bellerín, Sead Kolasinac, Calum Chambers and Jack Wilshere all failed to join in the celebrations – which didn’t go unnoticed by the Chilean international.

Wilshere then set-up Alexis for our third goal and everybody except Koscielny went over to congratulate the duo as our French centre-back stood unmoved near the centre-circle.

Thierry Henry and Graeme Souness highlighted the situation after the game and claimed there is an obvious divide in the dressing room and it seems there is growing evidence to support this theory.

It was widely reported that Koscielny and Sanchez had to be separated during a row at the training ground in the run-up to our trip to Anfield back in March and Alexis was subsequently dropped for the game.

The Guardian now claim Sanchez was involved in a fresh bust-up with several of his team mates in the dressing room following our 1-0 win at Burnley on November 26th.

The paper says unnamed Arsenal players called-out Sanchez over his bad attitude and the attacker was told his team mates had had enough of his histrionics on the pitch.

In his defence, Alexis claimed he was trying to help his team-mates but he was told he should encourage the players rather than throw his arms around – and this seemingly didn’t go down too well with the attacker.

The Guardian claim that many players feel Sanchez is no longer committed to the club and should be sold in January but it remains to be seen whether Arsene Wenger will decide to cash-in or force him to see-out the final months of his contract.

These reports are unsurprising and I’ve said for months that Alexis should have been sold in the summer. The decision to keep him was always going to back-fire and sadly it’s turned out to be the case.

With the exception of the Palace game, his form on the pitch has been poor and it’s clear his mind is focussed on securing a move so it might be best for all parties if he’s sold this winter but only if we can secure a replacement.

The writer is right. We should have sold Sanchez and Ozil and reinvested the £100m. No look where we are !

When the headlines went “Details emerge…”, one would have expected to see facts, quotes and perhaps, pictures. What do we have? Zilch. Speculations and a reharsh of a story which first came out in November, just to align with the current No-story about playercelebrations after a goal against Palace. These reports are in bad taste and intended to keep our fans perpetually anxious. Bellerin posted a picture of Kos and Alexis celebrating his 2nd goal, to put paid to the silly story. Soon, they will ask for Cech to come out to celebrate goals or the team is “divided”.

Whatever about some of our players at Palace allegedly not congratulating Sanchez, did anyone hear our fans at the game sing his song after either of his goals? I couldn’t hear it being sung then or at any stage while watching on TV but right after his second I certainly did hear them loudly singing “Super Jack”. Were they trying to tell him something?
