Arsenal legend named in UEFA’s all-time XI alongside Gerrard & Messi
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has been named in UEFA’s ultimate all-time XI along with the likes of Steven Gerrard and Lionel Messi.
Henry spent the best years of his career with Arsenal as he became our all-time leading goal-scorer having netted an incredible 228 goals in 376 appearances during an eight year spell.
The French super star played in the Champions League every season during his time in north London and while he went on to lift the trophy at Barcelona, he undoubtedly showed his best form at Arsenal between 2000 and 2006.
UEFA have now compiled their ultimate XI based on how many times each individual player has been selected in their ‘Team of the Year’ and Henry has made the cut.
The striker featured in the UEFA TOTY five times and is the only player to make the selection in each of the first four years between 2001 and 2004. Thierry made his final TOTY in 2006 having helped fire us to the Champions League final.
Henry is in esteemed company and unsurprisingly he’s named up front alongside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo while Barca stars Xavi and Andreas Iniesta also make the cut.
Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is selected after making the TOTY three times meaning two Premier League players are involved.
Barca duo Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique are in along with Real Madrid stars Sergio Ramos and Iker Casillas while Philip Lahm is the only Bayern Munich player to be included.
