Arsenal star suffers injury scare after picking up knock in training

By on November 7, 2017

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal have suffered an injury scare after striker Olivier Giroud was pictured clutching his ankle in training with the French squad.

Giroud has struggled for regular starts under Arsene Wenger in the Premier League this season with the majority of his playing time coming in the cup competitions.

But he’s still considered an important player by national team boss Didier Deschamps and he was named in the France squad ahead of their friendlies against Wales and Germany.

Giroud has now given both Wenger and Deschamps a scare after going down clutching his right ankle during a training session on Monday evening.

In typical Giroud style, the striker was seen rolling around in apparent agony at France’s Clairefontaine training base but I’ve seen rumours he was still able to carry on and complete the session.

Giroud often appears in ‘agony’ during games with his facial expression leaving you thinking a trip to hospital will be on the cards only for him to make a miraculous recovery, so I personally wouldn’t be worrying too much about this incident.

However, I’m sure Arsene will be keeping in close contact with the French medical team to make sure Giroud is in good condition as the last thing we need is more injuries ahead of the Tottenham game.

We should know more about Giroud’s fitness later this week as France are due to play Wales on Friday night before travelling to Germany four days later.
