Preview: Man City v Arsenal: Gunners star fit, likely line-ups + prediction

Arsenal face a daunting trip to the Etihad Stadium as we take on run-away leaders Manchester City tomorrow afternoon.

City currently sit five points clear at the top of the Premier League table having won 9 of their 10 games so far so it’s certainly going to be a stiff test.

Arsenal are a full 9 points adrift of the leaders in fifth position but a win would see us close the gap on second-placed Man Utd to just one point ahead of their tip to Chelsea.

Much of the talk in the build-up to the game has been around whether City can emulate the Invincibles by going the entire season unbeaten but I think it’s still a little early to be talking about that sort of achievement.

We warmed up for the game with a bore 0-0 draw with Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League on Thursday but it’s worth remembering it was our second-string that played so our first team regulars should be well rested.

Team News

That’s because the likes of Cech, Koscielny, Monreal Bellerin, Ramsey, Ozil, Sanchez and Lacazette were all rested in midweek so are due to be recalled tomorrow.

Kolasinac also missed the Belgrade game but he’s expected to recover from a hip injury that he aggravated against Swansea last weekend so he should return on the left wing.

Mustafi is still recovering from a hamstring injury so Mertesacker should continue in the defence while Welbeck and Ospina are also unavailable due to a groin injuries.

As for City, they have no fresh injury concerns but Kompany remains out with a calf injury while Benjamin Mendy is out for several months with a knee problem.

Likely Line-Ups

The Arsenal eleven pretty-much picks itself these days. Here is how we’re set to line-up tomorrow:

City on the other hand are expected to line-up:

Prediction & Betting

Man City are in formidable form as they’ve won their last 14 games on the bounce and have already scored an incredible 49 goals this season so this is going to be a big ask for the players. It’s no surprise that City are the 1/3 odds-on favourites to win the game and the promotions at Betdaq mean you could get even more for your money if you’re having a wager.

I can’t say I’ll be putting any of my hard earned money on Arsenal but for those who’re confident, the good news is we’re in decent form ourselves having lost just once in our last 13 games in all competitions but this is certainly our biggest test so far.

We have a great record against City having lost just one of our last nine games and we won 2-0 at the Etihad in 2015, so that should give us some encouragement. However, Wenger said he’s going there to attack and if he does, I fear we’re going to concede at least 3. The hope is we can cause them some problems too, but I still think we’ll end up losing 3-2. Man City 3-2 Arsenal
