New signings to start in 3-4-2-1: My Arsenal starting XI vs Leicester
Arsenal kick off the new Premier League campaign when we entertain Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night. Here is the team I’d like to see Arsene Wenger select….
Goalkeeper: Cech
Our Czech legend enjoyed an excellent end to last season and has been in solid form during pre-season so there is no reason why he shouldn’t keep the gloves. Ospina looks to be staying on as No.2 so he’ll be among the subs tomorrow.
Defence: Holding, Mertesacker, Monreal
We have problems in defence as Koscielny is suspended as he’s still serving his ban carried over from last season, Gabriel is still nursing his knee injury while Mustafi is still not match fit after returning back late to pre-season training.
Mertesacker was outstanding in the FA Cup final and he showed he’s still a man to rise to the big occasion. The German giant is a doubt for this game after suffering a nasty cut to his eye in the Community Shield last weekend but he’s trained today so should be passed fit to start.
Monreal is almost certain to continue on the left-side of the back three while I think we’ll see Holding start on the right with Per in the middle.
Midfield: Bellerin, Xhaka, Ramsey, Kolasinac
We’ve been handed a boost as Ramsey has been able to take part in full training today after recovering from a calf injury that kept him out of the Community Shield so I’d start him if he’s fit.
Xhaka has been excellent in pre-season so he should certainly keep his place while I think we’ll see Kolasinac make his full debut after making a superb appearance off the bench last weekend. Bellerin is favourite to keep his place in the right wing-back slot so that would see Oxlade-Chamberlain left out.
Attack: Ozil, Walcott, Lacazette
Ozil is also back in contention after recovering from a minor ankle injury so he could start in attack while I’d go with Walcott over Welbeck as I think he’s more suited to the role just behind the striker.
We’ll get our first glimpse of Lacazette playing a competitive game at the Emirates tomorrow as our record signing should start up front with Giroud among the subs.
This would be my team:

Wenger has no remorse over last season disappointment to make his traditional top four. Hope this season wont be worse with his intransigence to strengthen his team.

It’s decisions like these that make managing sports teams so interesting. I try to play manager app games like Gamecast NCAA just to try my managing skills. Personally, I think Welbeck is going to have the year of his life so Arsenal will kill it.
