Arsenal launch bid to sign Real Madrid target – Sanchez replacement?

By on August 3, 2017

According to reports in Spain via the Express, Arsenal have submitted a bid to sign Ousmane Dembele but face a tough time trying to land the Borussia Dortmund attacker.

Arsene Wenger has admitted he’s still active in the transfer market and a new attacker appears to be on the agenda amid on-going doubts over the long-term future of Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean international is yet to sign an extension and there is growing speculation he’s pushing to join PSG or Man City – although Wenger insists we won’t sell to a domestic rival.

We’ve been strongly linked with a move for Thomas Lemar in recent weeks but Monaco are proving extremely difficult to deal with so it seems the boss is eyeing alternative targets.

The Express are citing a report from Mundo Deportivo that claims Arsenal have submitted an unspecified offer for Ousmane Dembele but it’s ready been knocked back by Dortmund.

The French international is one of the most exciting young attackers in Europe and he chipped in with 10 goals and 21 assists in all competitions last season so he’d be an excellent signing if we could pull it off.

Dembele is predominantly a right winger but he can play anywhere across the attacking midfield positions so he’d provide Wenger with plenty of options in the final third if he came to the Emirates.

However, the Spanish newspaper says Dortmund are determined to hang on to Dembele as they only signed him from Rennes 12 months ago and is regarded as an important first team player.

It’s also stated in the report that Real Madrid and Barcelona have also registered their interest in signing the 20-year-old attacker so we’ll face some stiff competition if the German outfit did decide to sell.
