Arsenal in talks with Man City to sign Aguero as part of Sanchez swap deal

According to journalist Graeme Bailey via The Gambling Times, Arsenal and Manchester City are in talks about a stunning swap deal involving Sergio Aguero and Alexis Sanchez.

Our Chilean super star returned to pre-season training yesterday but is believed to have reiterated his desire to leave after refusing to sign a new contract extension.

Sanchez has been linked with a number of clubs but City is reportedly his favoured destination and Pep Guardiola is understood to be keen to link-up with the attacker again having managed him at Barcelona.

Arsene Wenger insists he won’t sell Alexis even if he doesn’t sign a new deal this summer but that resolve could be severely tested if these latest reports are to be believed.

Journalist Graeme Bailey – who’s worked with several newspapers and Sky Sports over the years – has claimed in his column for The Gambling Times that Arsenal and City are in talks about a potential swap deal involving Aguero and Sanchez.

Bailey says Arsenal chiefs asked about Aguero being included in any deal when approached by City for Sanchez and the Citizens are now giving serious consideration to letting the striker leave.

Aguero has been a legend for City but he’s facing the prospect of sitting on the bench this season with Gabriel Jesus favourite to start up front and City pushing hard to sign Sanchez.

Let’s be honest, if Sanchez has made it clear he’s not going to sign a new deal then we need to cash-in and while Wenger understandably doesn’t want to sell to a rival, getting Aguero in return would be a great piece of business.

The Argentinean international is one of the best strikers in Europe and still managed to score 30 goals for City last season despite struggling with injury so he’d be a superb addition to the squad.

I’m not sure what it would mean for Alexandre Lacazette if we did sign Aguero. Perhaps Wenger would change formation to play two up front but we’d make room for Aguero, that’s for sure.

It’s certainly an interesting situation for Aguero as he’ll have to consider his future if City do sign Alexis so maybe a move to the Emirates would give him the opportunity to prove Guardiola wrong for letting him go.

This isn’t going to happen and I feel sorry for any Arsenal fan getting excited about it. I think most City fans would like to see Sanchez sign but if he doesn’t there is always next year at which point Arsenal will be 50 million poorer.

However if City were to sell Aguero there would be very real upset from the fans. Unlike Sanchez he is very happy at the club and is close to becoming City s all time top goal scorer. Not only that there is absolutely no reason to let him go other than to dig your manager out of a very deep hole. The one hes dug for himself.

The only way Sanchez will sign for City is if they get Aguero as part of the deal, and I pity City fans if they think Sanchez will be sold to to them or any of their PL rivals. The truth is, he won’t be playing for either Arsenal or City this coming season.

Sanchez is a good player. Aguero is better. How can you swap a good player with a better player? Makes no sense for City.
