Arsenal table record bid as Wenger eyes £164m double swoop

By on July 8, 2017

According to reports in Spain via the Daily Star, Arsenal have tabled a world record £124m bid for Kylian Mbappe as Arsene Wenger eyes a big-money double swoop on Monaco.

The boss has already been busy in the summer transfer market having broken our club record to snap up Alexandre Lacazette while defender Sean Kolasinac has arrived on a free transfer.

However, it looks like Wenger is still hoping to secure further new recruits and widespread reports in recent weeks have linked us with two of Monaco’s star players.

Mbappe has emerged as the hottest property in world football after scoring 24 goals and providing 14 assists to help fire Monaco to the Ligue 1 title last season and he’s attracted interest from several top clubs.

The Daily Star are citing a report from Spanish outlet Diario Gol that claims Arsenal have joined PSG in submitting world record bids worth a whopping £124m for the teen sensation.

The report doesn’t indicate whether Monaco has responded to our offer but they do say that Mbappe’s future isn’t strictly linked to just money and the striker will ultimately have the final say on who he joins.

Diario Gol also suggest that the 18-year-old has reservations about joining Madrid as he’s concerned about the lack of regular playing time he’d get at the Champions League winners so Arsenal do have a decent chance of winning the race for his signature.

Any deal for Mbappe could be part of a double swoop on Monaco as the Daily Star report that we’ve also tabled an improved offer worth £40m for attacker Thomas Lemar.

The 21-year-old was also a key player last season and understandably Monaco are desperate to keep hold of him so it’s going to be extremely difficult to pull off what would be a sensational £164m double swoop.

With Lacazette already on the books I don’t see how we have room for Mbappe and Lemar without the likes of Alexis Sanchez or Olivier Giroud leaving so I’d expect departures if we manage to land the French pair.

I agree with d first writer above, no player us bigger than his team. Arsenal should allow Sanchez tovgi to wherever pleases him, sell him at higher price and investvd money in younger players. There are manyvplayers out there better than Sanchez.

Bonaroca:- There is no doubt Mr Wenger has committed himself to extend a two year extension and there is no doubt is trying to make up for not winning the
    League or the European Cup.
Arsenal now have the cash, but even so Mr Wenger has to sell some of his squad. Obviously, I would not mind if Walcott,Giraud,Coloquen,Sanches are sold.
For sure I would like to see the Ox and up to a certain Ozil and Ramsey are
retained. Arsenal still have to find a top goalkeeper.
One has to be honest. Every year Arsenal play in four top tournaments and most players do play at international tournament. One expects an amount of injuries
    as well.
Mr Wenger has to give every player a say 30 games excluding International in a season. This I am sure all players will agree and all have the chance to play with enough rest periods in between.
