Arsenal submit opening £13m bid for Barcelona target
According to a report in the Daily Star today, Arsenal have tabled an opening £13m bid for Braga attacker Pedro Neto but will face stiff competition from Barcelona.
Arsene Wenger is facing arguably the toughest summer of his career as he’s got to resolve the future’s of several key players and try to build a squad capable of challenging for the title next season.
While we’re being linked with a number of established players in the media it seems the boss is also looking to the future as A Bola, via the Daily Star, claim that Arsenal are trying to strike a deal to sign Neto.
The Portuguese outlet say we’ve submitted an opening £13m bid for the Braga winger but they are expected to try and hold out for a fee closer to the attackers £17.6m release clause.
Not only that, but A Bola suggest that Arsenal will face stiff competition from Barcelona for the 17-year-old’s signature as the Catalan giants are also showing a keen interest this summer.
The report says Barca have been trying to land Neto for some time and are expected to gazump Arsenal by submit a higher offer of their own over the coming days.
Neto has been with Braga since joining the clubs youth system in 2013 and he’s emerged as one of the most highly-rated youngsters in Portuguese football since breaking in to the first team this year.

The teenager has already been capped by Portugal at under-18 level and is being tipped to go on to become a full international for his country over the coming years.
It sounds like Neto has a bright future ahead of him so he’d be an exciting long-term addition to the squad but it remains to be seen whether we’ll be able to beat Barcelona to his signature this summer.
