£60m striker will only join Arsenal if opts for Premier League move

By on June 17, 2017

According to SportBild, Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would only see himself playing for Arsenal if he decides to try his luck in the Premier League.

Aubameyang has just come off the back of a sensational campaign that saw him score 40 goals in all competitions for Dortmund and it’s been widely reported that he’ll be on the move this summer.

The Gabon international appeared all-set for a switch to Paris Saint-Germain but the Metro cited a report from Bild last week that claimed the Ligue 1 giants had pulled the plug on the proposed £60m deal.

The 27-year-old’s future is now up in the air and it’s led to fresh speculation that Arsenal could make a move for the striker as Arsene Wenger looks to bring in a top class forward this summer.

Kylian Mbappe and Alexandre Lacazette have been strongly linked with moves in recent weeks but the Daily Mail reported at the start of the month that Wenger was also eyeing a £60m swoop for Aubameyang.

Now that his proposed switch to PSG has fallen through, a move to the Emirates could be on the cards as SportBild claim that Arsenal are the only club Aubameyang see’s himself playing for if he comes to England.

The German publication says despite rumours linking him with the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City, it’s Arsenal who the pacey hitman would opt for out of the Premier League’s elite.

I’m a huge Aubameyang fan and think he’d be a perfect fit for our team. An attack of Sanchez and Ozil behind Aubameyang is a mouthwatering prospect, that’s for sure [providing we could keep hold of our star duo!].

However, there’s one big problem. SportBild say that the fact we aren’t in the Champions League could derail any potential move for Aubameyang to Arsenal this summer.

So, as expected, failing to finish in the top four could see us miss out on top class signings and it won’t just be Aubameyang feeling this way. Obviously we’re a big club who play nice football and will offer decent wages, but the elite players like Aubameyang, Mbappe and Lacazette all want to be playing in the Champions League so I fear we’re going to struggle to attract a top class striker once again this summer.

All the players want champions league football and say it’s a must have condition …but surely as we’ve just found out no club can guarantee it past the next season.we stand a good chance with decent signings of getting back into it next season. ..does this mean players won’t stay at a club they have just signed for if they drop out next year it seems very short sighted and very un loyal to a club that pays fantastic wages and the fans that give them fantastic support
