According to the Mirror, Bayern Munich are readying a £40m bid to sign Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez and are prepared to make him their highest paid player at the club.

Sanchez is about to enter the final year of his contract at the Emirates and has been strongly tipped to leave after failing to agree terms over an extension despite lengthy talks with the club.

Arsene Wenger has maintained that he wants to keep hold of our star man and has hinted we could force him to see-out the final year of his deal if he doesn’t sign a new contract.

Our latest offer is reportedly worth in excess of £275,000-a-week but the Mirror claim that Bayern are ready to blow us out the water by offering Sanchez a deal worth £350,000-a-week and they are confident of getting a deal done after holding talks with his agent Fernando Felicevich.

That kind of money would make the Chilean international the highest paid player at the Allianz Arena and the newspaper says Bayern are now ready to test Arsenal’s resolve with a £40m bid.

Irrespective of what Wenger says, I think the board will find it extremely difficult to turn down a sizeable offer for Sanchez if he doesn’t sign a new deal – although I’d like to see us hold out for at least £50m.

Sanchez is currently away with the Chile national team ahead of the Confederations Cup and he said yesterday that he’s leaving talks over his future down to his agent. Sanchez is quoted as saying by the Mirror:

“I’m looking at what my agent is doing. For now, I’m focused on the [Confederations] Cup in Russia and trying to do well.

“The truth is that my agent will see to it. He knows and he will sit down with the club to look for the best option for me. I’d like a lot of things but I’m only thinking about the national team.”

So it looks as though Bayern are emerging as the front-runners to sign Alexis if he does leave but worryingly the Mirror claim that the attackers preference is to remain in the Premier League.

The likes of Man City and Chelsea have been linked so it’s safe to say I’d MUCH prefer we do business with Bayern if we do decide to cash-in on Sanchez this summer.

However, I’m still hopeful we can find an agreement with him as it would be a devastating blow to lose our best player following such a frustrating campaign.

Sanchez is one of the best players in Europe along with Ronaldo and Messi. They should hike the price up to within 10 million of either of those players.

Sanchez will go Bosman end of next season. Either Arsenal take the £40 million now or nothing in 2019.
