[Ratings] Arsenal 3-1 Everton: Ozil & Gabriel shine but Kos flops

By on May 21, 2017

Arsenal have missed out on the top four for the first time in 20 years despite beating Everton 3-1 at the Emirates today.

Here are my ratings:

Cech  7.5/10 | Made some solid saves to keep Everton out and even guessed right on the penalty! I’m sure he’ll save the next one…

Holding  7/10 | A few nervy moments from the youngster but he did well up against the awkward Lukaku.

Koscielny  2/10 | Ridiculous challenge to get himself sent off early on. Now misses the cup final.

Gabriel  8/10 | Was having an excellent game until he was stretchered off with suspected knee ligament damage. Certain to miss the Chelsea game now.

Bellerin  7.5/10 | On hand to score the opener and ran his socks off all afternoon down the right wing.

Xhaka  6.5/10 | A solid display but wasn’t able to dictate play as much as usual as we didn’t see as much of the ball with 10-men.

Ramsey  7/10 | Worked hard as usual but was great to see him break his Premier League duck with a stunner at the end.

Monreal  6.5/10 | Silly handball gave away a penalty but was otherwise solid enough.

Sanchez  7/10 | Tapped home to make it 2-0 midway through the first half. Limped off with a suspected hamstring injury. Fingers crossed he’ll be fit to face Chelsea.

Ozil  8.5/10 | Worked himself in to the ground and was always our main threat. Could have got himself on the score-sheet near the end but grabbed an assist for Ramsey’s goal.

Welbeck  6.5/10 | Missed an open goal before Bellerin spared his blushes but set-up Sanchez for the second goal. Looked knackered at the end.

Subs:

Mertesacker  6/10 | Good to see him make his first appearance of the season.

Coquelin  6/10 | Not much of an impact from the Frenchman.

Iwobi  6.5/10 | Made a good impact but missed a great chance to make it 3-1.

WACTH: Arsenal 3-1 Everton: See all the goals here

So in the end we left ourselves with too much to do and with Liverpool beating Middlesbrough at Anfield, we miss out on the top four for the first time in 20 years. To make matters worse, today was an expensive game as Koscielny and Gabriel will miss the cup final while Sanchez is also a doubt. Sigh…..
