According to the Evening Standard, Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is hoping to make his return from injury during our pivotal week at the start of March.

Ramsey has been on the sidelines since sustaining a calf injury during our disappointing 2-1 defeat to Watford at the Emirates at the end of January.

The Welsh international has missed the subsequent Premier League games against Chelsea and Hull City as well as the FA Cup clash with Sutton United and the humiliation in Bayern Munich last week.

However, Ramsey is now thought to be progressing well in his recovery and the Evening Standard claim he’s set to make his return at the start of next month.

We don’t have a game this weekend after our match with Southampton was postponed so our next fixture sees us head to Merseyside to face Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday March 4th.

We then entertain Bayern for our ‘dead rubber’ Champions League second leg on the Tuesday before welcoming Lincoln City to the Emirates for our FA Cup quarter final the following weekend.

The Standard claim that Ramsey is hoping to be available for selection in some capacity during that week, but they don’t state which game is likely to mark his comeback.

We’ll have to wait and see how he progresses over the coming week but it would be great to see Ramsey back on the bench for the Liverpool game as we don’t have many central midfield options right now.

Mohamed Elneny has been ruled out for at least three weeks after picking up a calf injury during our FA Cup win at Sutton so we have just two specialist central midfielders available in Granit Xhaka and Francis Coquelin.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has impressed in a more central role in recent games but it would still be useful to have a player like Ramsey available as we head in to a pivotal week that is likely to shape the rest of our season.
