Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the club have signed highly-rated defender Cohen Bramall from non-league side Hednesford Town, according to the Express.

Bramall has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates recently and the 20-year-old had a trial with the club in the lead up to Christmas last month.

Widespread reports earlier this week suggested that Bramall had impressed the coaching staff and was set to become our first signing of the January window after being offered a two-and-a-half-year contract.

The Mirror reported that we’ll pay Hednesford around £40,000 for the promising left-back and now Wenger appears to have confirmed that the deal has been wrapped-up.

The boss has been quoted in the Express as telling a beINsports reporter that Bramall has now signed for Arsenal and compared the defender to a young ‘Ashley Cole’.

Wenger said:

“He’s an exceptional physical talent.

“I don’t think he’s ready, today, to play in Premier League.”

Cole left Arsenal under a cloud and is villainized by the fan-base these days having joined Chelsea in 2006 but he was once adored by the Highbury faithful after coming through the academy to play 228 times for the club.

‘Cashley’ is widely regarded as one of the best left-backs to ever play for Arsenal so it’s big praise from Wenger to compare Bramall to the England international.

I’m sure if he can go on to have even a fraction of the success Cole had in his career he’ll be a happy boy.
