Video: Man City 2-1 Arsenal: Gunners collapse yet again

By on December 18, 2016

Arsenal once again collapsed to let a one-goal lead slip after seeing our ‘title challenge’ left in tatters by a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad this afternoon.

Just like at Everton in midweek, we opened the scoring in the fifth minute when a swift break away from Hector Bellerin lead to Alexis Sanchez playing in Theo Walcott who cooly slotted home for 0-1.

However, predictably we gave away another soft goal as City cut straight through the middle of our defence with a simple ball over the top and Leroy Sane converted for 1-1 minutes after the break.

Replays showed the German attacker may have just been offside so we certainly weren’t helped by the officials but it was poor defending regardless.

Yet more shocking play at the back, this time from Nacho Monreal, allowed Raheem Sterling to cut in from the right side and drill home a low shot in to the near corner of Petr Cech’s net in the 71st  minute.

We barley mustered a response so crashed to our second 2-1 defeat in four days to leave us nine points adrift of leaders Chelsea.

Here are the goals:
