[Tweets] Ozil & Mustafi react to Arsenal drawing Bayern Munich

By on December 12, 2016

Mesut Ozil and Shkodran Mustafi have been reacting on Twitter after Arsenal once again drew Bayern Munich in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

After finishing top of our qualifying group for the first time since 2011, we’d have been forgiven for thinking we might manage to dodge our annual trip to Munich.

However, the footballing gods deserted us once again as we were pitted against the Bundesliga champions in the Champions League for the fourth time in the last five seasons.

Ozil was quick to take to Twitter and he engaged in a bit of ‘banter’ with German team mate and Bayern defender Jerome Boateng. The Tweets were in German but basically Ozil said it’s Arsenal’s turn to beat Munich and said they won’t have it so easy this time as they won’t be 10 points clear in their domestic league allowing them to save themselves for the Arsenal games.

The guys at 101greatgoals kindly put together a full translation of the exchange:

Mustafi also took to Twitter to react to the news that he’ll be heading back to his homeland by saying he was expecting the draw because he was told Arsenal always play Bayern in the Champions League but he’s looking forward to facing his German team mates.

Hector Bellerin also uploaded a video to his Twitter of him roasting the Bayern defence in stoppage time to set-up Ozil for our second goal during the 2-0 group stage win back in October 2015. Let’s hope for more of the same when we meet in February/March.
