Champions League draw: Arsenal to face Bayern Munich [again]

By on December 12, 2016

Arsenal have once again been drawn to face Bayern Munich in the first knockout stage of the Champions League.

We booked our place in the last 16 after finishing top of Group A thanks to an impressive 4-1 win at Basel last week [and Ludogorets doing us a favour at PSG] and we all hoped that would lead to a favourable draw.

However, as predictable as night follows day, we have once again been pitted against Bayern Munich after the last-16 draw was conducted this morning.

It’s the fourth time in five years that we’ve been draw to play Munich, surely that can’t just go down as a ‘coincidence’? Either way, it’s getting pretty boring.

PSG will take on Barcelona so even if we had finished second, we were screwed anyway.

The good news is that I honestly think this is the best chance we’ve had of beating Bayern as they aren’t as strong as in recent years and this is the best team we’ve had for over a decade.

To rub salt in to the wound, Man City – who finished second in their group – have been drawn to fave Monaco while Leicester got Sevilla.

The first leg will be played on either the 14th/15th or 21st/22nd February with the second leg at the Emirates on either the 7th/8th or 14/15th March.
