Arsenal suffer injury blow ahead of Swansea but midfielder returns
According to the Telegraph, Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is expected to miss Saturday’s clash with Swansea but Francis Coquelin is in-line to make his return from injury.
Ramsey was initially ruled out for three weeks after limping out of our opening weekend defeat to Liverpool with a hamstring injury but he hasn’t featured for over two months.
A proposed comeback at the start of September was put on hold after Rambo suffered pain when he stepped up his training and the boss has been cautious not to push him too hard and has given him time to fully heal.
The Telegraph claim that Ramsey is now back in full training but the club aren’t likely to rush him back for Saturday’s clash with Swansea as they don’t want to take any unnecessary risks.
Therefore, the earliest the Welsh international could return is against Ludogorets in the Champions League next Wednesday night but we’ll have to wait and see how he progresses over the coming days.
However, there is some positive news as the newspaper says that Coquelin is expected to be back in contention this weekend after overcoming a knee injury that he picked up against Chelsea last month.
There were fears Francis may be facing months out but Wenger confirmed the injury was only minor and the midfielder has been training fully during the international break so he’ll be available to face the Swans.
Obviously it’s great that Coquelin is back as he was in good form before his injury but I’d like to see Granit Xhaka continue alongside Cazorla in midfield as he’s been impressive against Basel and Burnley in recent weeks.
