Holding & Iwobi Start in 4-2-3-1: My Arsenal XI to face Liverpool

Premier League football finally returns as Arsenal play host to Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon. This is the team I’d like to see Arsene Wenger go with….

Goalkeeper: Cech

Cech has recovered form his eye infection so I fully expect him to start between the sticks on Sunday.

Defence: Bellerin, Chambers, Holding, Monreal

We’ve got a crisis in defence as Gabriel has been ruled out for up to two months and joins Per Mertesacker on the treatment table. Arsene says Laurent Koscielny isn’t fit enough to feature after only returning to pre-season training this week.

Therefore, we have a dilemma at centre-back. I’ve seen some suggest Nacho Monreal should move in to the middle but I’d prefer to keep things as settled as possible and play our usual full-backs in thier natural positions.

It’s time for Calum Chambers to step up and show us what he’s made of while summer signing Rob Holding is set to be handed his Premier League debut.

Midfield: Xhaka, Elneny

Granit Xhaka has impressed in pre-season and I can’t wait to see what the Swiss international can do in the Premier League. It’s going to be interesting to see who Arsene sees as his partner but with Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla not 100% fit, I think we’ll see Mohamed Elneny alongside him on Sunday.

Attack: The Ox, Ramsey, Iwobi

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been impressing in pre-season so I’d like to see him given a start on the right. Theo Walcott improved as pre-season went on but he needs to do more to regain his starting place.

Mesut Ozil isn’t available for selection due to a lack of fitness so Aaron Ramsey is set to be given a chance to impress in a more attacking position while Alex Iwobi deserves to keep his place on the left after encouraging performances in pre-season.

Striker: Sanchez

It’s not only at the back where we have problems as we head in to the new season without a recognised striker to choose from. With Welbeck cruelly ruled out with a knee injury, Giroud not available after only returning to training on Monday and Wenger still not brought in a new striker, we have limited options through the middle.

Walcott has been playing up top in pre-season and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him start this weekend but he’s not done enough to warrant a start if you ask me. Alexis Sanchez isn’t a natural striker and won’t be 100% fit but he’ll be more influential that Walcott.

This would be my line-up to face Liverpool:

What would be your line-up? Let me know your thoughts….

Agree with your back five. But in the middle I’d go for Coqelin in place of Elneny to help the young central defenders and Carzola for Ramsey on account of his better fitness. Upfront I’d go with Ox, Walcott and Sanchez

Let’s us leave the team selection to Mr wenger. he knows every player’s capabilities and how they fit into his system of player. I salute Mr Wenger for doing a fantastic job because it’s not about buying all the players that makes us champions but just keeping the balance. Leicester city won the league with no names but dedication and willingness to do it for the fans and manager. viva, wenger!!!!
