Arsenal in talks over £60m+ deal to sign superstar striker – reports

By on August 11, 2016

According to the Sun, Arsenal have opened talks with Bayern Munich over a sensational move for Robert Lewandowski with Arsene Wenger ready to spend over £60m to sign the striker.

The boss is trying to bring in a top class striker this summer but we’ve been frustrated in our pursuits of several names such as Jamie Vardy, Gonzalo Higuain, Alvaro Morata and Alexandre Lacazette.

The French international remains a target but the Sun claim that we’ll only move for the Lyon hitman if we can’t land one of our very ambitious prime targets; Lewandowski and Antoine Greizmann.

The newspaper says Arsene is desperate to sign a world class striker and has already made contact with Bayern to discuss a potential deal for Lewandowski – who’s future has become uncertain due to on-going contract talks.

The Polish international has yet to agree terms over a new deal and Bayern have already admitted they won’t pay the ‘crazy’ wages being offered by other top clubs throughout Europe.

It’s led to suggestions that the 27-year-old may look for a new challenge and the Sun claims that Wenger is prepared to pay over £60m to bring Lewandowski to the Emirates this summer.

If Bayern refuse to sell, the paper says that we’ve lined-up Greizmann as a potential alternative but any deal for the Frenchman will be extremely difficult given he signed a new deal with Atletico Madrid in June that saw his buyout increase to £85.5m.

Greizmann was outstanding at the Euro’s and linked-up superbly with Olivier Giroud so I’d love to see the pair doing their stuff at club level at Arsenal this season.

However, realistically, Atletico aren’t going to sell for anything less than his buyout and we aren’t going to pay £85.5m, so Lewandowski is the most ‘realistic’ of the two superstars.

I actually think the Pole would be the perfect striker to lead our attack but I’m not getting my hopes up. Why on earth would Bayern sell? They don’t need the money and there are no players around who could replace him, so I just don’t think we’ve got a chance of pulling this off.

It’s good to see Arsenal being ambitious and trying to sign the world best players but unfortunately we don’t have the financial power of clubs like Man Utd.

I still think Lacazette is the most realistic striker we’ll see arrive in North London this summer. He’s not a world class hitman like Lewandowski or Griezmann, but he’ll give us a much-needed option up front this season.

Arsenal just need to sign strong defender and forget about striker’s cause new striker’s will need time to adopt while young striker’s like Gnabry looks very hungry for success! He just need game time! Forget about big names

It is very clear that the Sun did not say that Arsenal have opened talks with Bayern. Please do not write this way!

Lacazzette is not worth anything near £60m. Rather stay as we are than pay so much for a player who didn’t even make the French Euros squad.

@Gumachew,you can go find yourself another club because you are not a true and loyalty fan. Spure is next door if you dont want to look far! Because you guys see other clubs buying more players and expensive one as well, therefore, my lovely Arsenal should rush in buying too.. I love Arsene Wenger policy, the man knows better and dont rush into life. Check this out, Man U, Man C, Chelsea, Spure and if not mistaking Liverpool all bought more players then Arsenal last season but where they end up? I guess below Arsenal I guess and club that didnt spend over 60millions on all their players they bought end up winning the league. Arsenal have just been unfortunate because each time we are closer to winning the title, injuries come and damage us big time. If you buy a single player for 100m+ and let say he got injuried in his first month for up to 2 to 3 months lay off, what the important of it. Mou just want to make his name over Wenger in the transfer market but let wait and watch football games after games and see results, then you can talk.. Champion League all day Mr. Wenger, ain’t mad at you. These fake fans will know your important when you finally move upstair to relax and enjoy the game like your boy SAF..

Most expensive football tickets in the country and we are constantly being told we can’t match the prices other teams are willing to pay for players… The club is owned by a multi millionaire, the biggest sponsorship tv deal ever but find it hard to spend money on decent plays.. I admire wenger and I think, give him a team that can challenge in the premiership.. He will win without even trying.. But we are constantly told we have financial restrictions… Forbes states that Arsenal are the 5th most richest clubs in the world and we still don’t have a quality stricker… not sure I’ll be willing to part with my money to watch the team I grew to love… Won’t even buy a shirt.. Until the owners back mr we get in the transfer market properly so we can again be a major force… Get rid of the kronke’s and let’s have a owner that see us as a big club and not some club that wants to rip off the fans… Will alway suppose the Arsenal but not willing to spend my money until they are willing to stop taking the piss out of the fans… (Maybe I will stop watching football full stop)

Nothing’s gonna happen! Again and again, the same summer on the transfert market. Everybody knows where the team has a need. But nothing will be done by the club. They just don’t ask themselves the good question to be more competitive
