Star agrees terms over £100k-a-week Arsenal move after Wenger talks

By on June 5, 2016

According to the Mirror, Jamie Vardy has agreed personal terms worth £100,000-a-week after holding talks with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger on Friday afternoon.

Widespread reports on Friday claimed that Vardy was heading to the Emirates after we had triggered a release clause in the strikers Leicester City contract worth around £20m.

We were then allowed to talk with Vardy and his representatives and the Mirror now claim that the 29-year-old has agreed terms over a four-year contract worth around £100,000-a-week.

The newspaper says that the hitman held face-to-face talks with Arsene Wenger in London on Friday to discuss the potential transfer and was scheduled-in to undergo his medical on Sunday afternoon.

I’ve seen various rumours flying around suggesting the medical has been successfully completed but nothing concrete, so we’ll just have to wait and see how things progress over the coming hours.

There are reports that Leicester have made a last ditch attempt to persuade Vardy to stay at the King Power by offering him a new deal, but Olivier Giroud told Sky Sports earlier that he’d been told the striker was coming to Arsenal.

So it certainly looks like Vardy is close to becoming our second signing of the summer with the striker set to follow midfielder Granit Xhaka to the club.

I still have my doubts about the move as I’m not convinced Vardy is the ideal signing but we need another option up front after losing Danny Welbeck for nine months, and the Leicester man was outstanding last season.

His 24 goals were pivotal in firing the Foxes to their sensational Premier League title win and if he can replicate that sort of form at Arsenal, he’ll turn out to be a superb signing.

I’m still intrigued as to how Wenger will fit him in to our system and I wrote an article on how we might line-up next season with Vardy on the books – check it out here.

Football has gone absolutely mad. Although to be fair it went absolutely mad ages ago. Nobody knows what is going on. I wish the people that don’t have a clue would shut up, so, the people that do, David Ornstein please stand up, can let us know what is actually happening. I can’t see anything good coming of this. The only good thing about the deal is his price, but, more often than not, you get what you pay for.

David Ornstein tweeted about 2 hours ago that the deal in not done yet, but could be on or off by 11.30am when The Three Lion will jet off to France. By then the good/bad news break will come on air. Let no one speculate falsehood. Goodnight.
